Well, considering that all of NZ internet is sent to LA first, (Which has always meant that for me, NA always had slightly less ping then JP) I am pretty pleased with the new server location. I went from 260ping without pingzapper to 180 ping without pingzapper(With pingzapper, I get 20 less ping now).
I remember when my recommended servers were EU ones when the game started, and then when they moved the EU servers I now had 460 ping to 'em and the game was unplayable, and I had to move.
California has got the highest population in the U.S.A, and the servers are in a better position for those in the pacific, and Australia (population of NZ and Aus combined is around 28mil), while also not being too far away from the other highly populated US states, I'd say it's in a good spot.

What a bonehead decision.

This move harms more people then helps. On a map, the Northeast megalopolis appears almost as a straight line. As of the year 2000, the region contained 49.6 million people, about 17% of the U.S. population on less than 2% of the nation's land area, with a population density of 931.3 people per square mile (359.6 people/km2), compared to the U.S. average of 80.5 per square mile 2[3] (31 people/km2
Texas, colorado, somewhere in the middle would been better.
So you want to place it out in Nebraska were services aren't as reliable. hmm yeah just a question for you have you ever been to Nebraska and tried playing their with their internet service providers?
I have been to Nebraska, but I wasn't there long to use their ISP. I'm not a techie, but people are only referring to physical location, Nebraska is right in the middle. U.S. & Canada would get a good distance from there.
