I get the impression that Zenos is deliberately going to refrain from getting support from the imperial capital simply for the sake of keeping things interesting.

Realistically, they probably have more then enough potential reinforcements to stop the rebellion dead in its tracks, but I think any retaliation from Garlemald itself is likely to occur in the aftermath of the 4.0 MSQ, and will be what spurs the two nations into declaring a full-on war against them, as it's likely their only hope of gaining a lasting peace.

I do have to agree on Garlemald taking things much more seriously starting at some point in the 4.x parts. By the end of 3.0 they have lost multiple Legatus, large chunks if not almost all of two legions as well as some hurt put on a third. By the end of Stormblood they will at the very least be put on the defensive in two seperate regions that prior had been safely under their control, as well as possibly lost yet another Legatus. It wouldn't surprise me if we start getting introduced to many more Legatus and the like via cuts to Garlemald in the 4.x patches.

I actually wonder, if we don't go to Garlemald in 5.0 how much might be us having to defend from a true Garlean push back into Eorzean and probably Doman territory. Might gives us a reason to try and get Tiamat out of her chains.

If I recall correctly during the same interview he pointed out how monstrous and unsympathetic Zenos would be, Yoshi-P also stated that people weren't supposed to like or sympathize with the Garleans, and that Zenos' monstrosity was in part a response to that. People will always find things to like about the villains, but they generally acknowledge when the villain(s) are meant to be evil, not try and force moral ambiguity into a place it doesn't fit so the villain(s) can be sympathetic. Go in with a clear mind and see what is, not what you want to see, is what I'm sayin'. (Note: I do not hang out on social media sites, so people liking Charibert and Grinnaux perplexes me. The former is an annoying pyromaniac and the latter is a bloodthirsty loose cannon, both so smug I just wanna punch them in their smug prick faces.)

I'm still convinced Fordola is going to be Lyse's rival; beyond that, I'm not keen on guessing what she's going to do. While he died a hero's death, van Hydrus was the legatus of an Imperial Legion. Only the gods know how many people were mistreated and how badly under his command and at his hands; it's up to individual discretion whether or not that one act of sacrifice is enough to atone for the things he did. (The story frames that it was.)

Peace will eventually be made with the Empire somehow. I also agree that Eorzeans should not be so stuck up about embracing magitek, but that is their decision to make.

It's widely acknowledged that if the Empire got serious about conquering Eorzea, we wouldn't stand a chance. The Alliance could barely hold off the tattered remnants of the VIIth Legion at the Battle of Cartenau; even with Ishgard's considerable military prowess added into the mix, there is no way Eorzea could stand up to the full might of the Garlean Empire.

From the look of the trailer it almost looks like Hien is hiding out with the Xaela tribe(or maybe some Fire Emblem Echoes is influencing me thoughts here XD). Still, he would be a wanted man, so he would need some very good cover to hide from the Garleans. He is not only the crown prince, he is a symbol for the country to rally behind, the Garlens will of course be on high alert to catch him.

I guess that even if the Azim Steppe has yet to be strongly affected by the imperial rule, the Xaela there might look at the big picture and realize it's likely just a matter of time before they become targets, as we know from the DRK and WHM quests that they definitely have been strongly oppressed in some places, and one of the tribes is mentioned as being alive in name only thanks to Garlean slavers.

The mention of them being ridiculed and humiliated in the WHM quests gives me the impression the Garleans are likely particularly racist towards them because of their appearance (Though it's hardly exclusive to their clan, as the Raen are mentioned as having had to prove their worth and overcome discrimination before they could comfortably live in the eastern reaches of Othard). I don't think we'll get a full scope of just how cruel the empire can be to its conquered peoples until we start moving into the more strongly occupied territories closer to Garlemald or the empire itself, though.

I'm also kind of curious as to whether or not we'll see any Au Ra conscripts amid the Garlean forces we deal with in Stormblood, since there were small amounts of the non-Hyur races among their ranks in ARR.

Well Yotsuyu seems to be using Kojin as well. That's a very big first as Garlean policy regarding beast tribes seemed to be: Kill on sight so far. That's probably why the Ananta will aid the rebellion.
Of course Yotsuyu isn't stricty speaking, Garlean.

Personally i'd rather she not go but her death would probably be the biggest blow to the WoL, the scions and Matoya (pls bring her back at least in a side story) at this current point.
think i called it too :P
