What is the story behind your character's name?

Here is the thing to really dig on...the last line of the song is why I said "oh yeah, that is dark elf necromancer for sure..." (and it's my fave Priest song)

For a class that had a mezz spell called Screaming Terror, it just seemed a really proper name for the character.

i was bad at making names but i wanted the name Hamada since its my real nickname and XI char name
so i looked for a cute name and i found aya from parasite eve
so i named it after her

as for my alt Ama
wanted a name same as aya
but i saw Ada and Ana alot
so i looked for a diffrent name
so i came with Ama

I use Averax as my name everywhere as of 10 years ago.

And i chose Snow as my surname because i'm terrible at surnames and i was watching game of thrones.

Since I was making a miqo'te, I figured I'd stick as many cat related words together as the character limit would allow me.

Someone called me a "helpful pixie" in a very sarcastic way a loong time ago. Pixie became my forum name everywhere after that. When I signed up for ffxi it was taken (imagine that). I added hawk to the end and Pixiehawk has been my game handle ever since. I tried a last name in 1.0, but didn't like it very much. I stopped playing for financial reasons (lost job, no one hiring, tightening belt, etc) shortly before 1.0 ended and didn't realize I could get my character back when I returned so I'm now Pixie Hawk.

I've rescued my original self from the JP server since, but mostly just goof off with her.

When creating my character, I wanted to design her as a slightly vague reference to another game series I'm as passionate about as FF. So that way it could work as a conversation starter and I might be able to meet people through shared interests. The other game series in question is a bit of a global phenomenon and involves capturing monsters that fit in your pocket.

So I picked a particular character to design my character around and used her Japanese name "Kasumi" to make it a little less obvious. For her last name "Cascade" I chose the reward she gives the player rather than the city she resides in "Cerulean" since the name flows better in conversation this way.

Only two people in two and a half years figured it out without any help, but the name just stuck anyway.

I've grown to enjoy healing in most games and I felt White Mages were iconic to Final Fantasy when it came to healers - couldn't hurt, right? After all, I was "Heal" for one of my previous games.

Anytime I play something else (especially a Black Mage), I get punished by everyone. Oh well

Lore is important and I wished to find a name that was somewhat lore-friendly. Planning to play an Elezen, I needed something that would sound vaguely french.
And the first sweet French name and surname I could think of were those of a character I very much love, Hiver Laurant.
This is him.


It was not my intention to base the FF14 character off him, I merely borrowed the name. There's a lot of other characters on other servers that more closely resemble the actual Hiver.

Some elaborate original names in this thread kind of make me feel ashamed about that choice :') Perhaps I should have picked something more unique.
