What is the story behind your character's name?

Seeing as she met long-lost brothers and sisters, it seems like they had an active father :'D

Meanwhile I've got a FC friend that keeps going between Keeper and Raen, and never saw any PCs sharing the same surname as her Keeper til she first went to Raen. Its a running joke "Hey, found one of your old cousins!" Did the same thing when I saw another Raen with her character's surname too.

J'talhdi Belhi was a randomly selected one. I figured it was just gibberish and didn't even bother figuring out its pronunciation to start with. I made her as a trial character after buying FF14 during steam sale just to get a feel for the game. I usually do when trying a new MMO before I settle on an actual customised one.

Close to 100 hours later I realised I had gotten so into the game I hadn't stopped to make a 'real' character and by that point watching her through the main story I had got kind of attached. I took the time to figure out how to pronounce her name and found out about the lore of it and then unlocked the Aesthetician and tweaked her look slightly. I have never been able to bring myself to changer her much since even though I have fantasia taking up a slot in my retainers. FF14's story is her stage for me now and it wouldn't feel right to me for someone else to take her place.

It was the character creation tool. I like it. Complete fluke but its got a nice sound to it. It was actually finding out about the name that lead me to the conventions and got me even more invested in the game's lore.

For yrs I used the name "Zebeedoo" as my online alias (my dad called me that randomly one day and it stuck xD), but after almost 10 yrs of using it I thought it began to sound childish and I fancied a change. I wanted the new name to start with "Ze" though as I like that combination of letters, so further more I decided to type every letter beside the two letters I picked until I ended up with something I liked, thus the name "Zeyh" became my identity for almost 3 yrs now. "Xiya'ze" was thought of by a friend and myself as I wanted something fitting and kinda rolls off the tongue. It didn't originally have the apostrophe though, I added that as it helps pronounce it how it should be, "Zee-ya-zee" basically.

So that's how I came to be known as "Zeyh Xiya'ze". <:

I like having two characters and I enjoy having them be connected...
So I came up with a name that would sound good forwards and backwards.
Eimian and Naimie. The last name E'da came from Edea, FF8 ♥

Neat question. Tbh I had no idea about naming conventions when I started. XD I just made the character and was like oh crap need a name. Lystra, because its a name of a city and I thought it sounded like a good name. Also it seemed unlikely I'd be running into a whole bunch of other Lystras running around. For my surname, it just seemed like a nature-y type name would fit. And since I went with a Moon Kitteh, I wanted something night-ish, so Starshine it was. Cheesey, I suppose but I like it. ^_^

My character is a Female Roegadyn (Sea Wolf) and she is named ILAT ZI which is a name i created using sumerian words and means SUPREME SPIRIT in english

I came up with my name because of the word 'nyctophilia', which is a word for people who find comfort in the darkness. (Sounds edgy, don't it? But I prefer moonlit nights.) I got 'nycto' from the word, then turned it into 'nyctus'.
My last name for my character popped up because I like playing mage-type classes in MMOs etc. I took 'mage', then put an '-ia' after it.

Nyctus Mageia is my Roegadyn. He also has a name for RP stuff I'm still developing for him. His full name is Eyriwolk Frydnahctsyn (Wandering Cloud, Son of the Peaceful Night.)

I like water...ocean, seas, rivers, lakes etc; also since I made my character's eyes light blue I went with "Mist", but added an E for "Miste" just to make it seem more like a name and not so generic.

It's still pronounced "Mist" with the e on the end silent, but I have had some people over the years playing get it wrong and call me "Misty" (when voice chat is involved), but I don't really mind.

The last name "Vaer" is shared by my boyfriend and I and we both agreed on it when we made the characters. It is actually a mashup related to our names IRL...it was an ingenious idea really. Worked very well
