What is the story behind your character's name?

Was a Hyur Midlander before I switched to Miqo'te. Since not all Miqo'te, particularly Sunseekers, obey traditional naming conventions, I decided NOT to spend $10 on a name change. Can't say I care for traditional Miqo'te naming conventions anyways. Technically Male Moonkeepers don't even -have- a name, just a number.

Good lord this thread filled up quickly didn't it? Must be the maintenance.

Anywho, my name is fairly simple. I stole the name "Dameron" off of the Wintergrasp Quartermaster in WoW, and I previously used it for a Paladin on a private server. So when I quit private servers to go play FFXIV, I took the name with me.

As for my surname, it was simply something I found online while looking for something cool. I thought the name "Dameron Blakesley" had a good ring to it.

I went with Eris because its a character from one of my favorite anime series.

I've received many tells from other players saying Kacho Nacho is the best lalafell name ever. I don't know about that. All I can say is other players like it.

Surprisingly, the random name generator sort of suggested it. Really!

Kacho was (is) my first character, and even though I read the naming convention thread, I was pulling a blank. So, I hit the random name for inspiration and up popped Cacho Nacho. I liked the name but thought a 'K' would look better graphically for a comic title.

Thus was born Kacho Nacho, a plainfolk lalafell from the South Seas homeland, out to be the best healer he can be, when he's not slacking off at the beach.

I don't have a super exciting story behind mine unfortunately. I ended up using the random name generator and it came up with something like Cillian Quemperlain. So I switched a few letters and made it into Cillien Temperlain.

Sinha being from Yona of the Dawn which was also a nickname (among 1 other nickname) given to me by a friend. Sinha roughly translates to moon light. Kumori roughly translates to Stormy weather, I have a sleeve tattoo (japanese style) that is of a storm (rain, clouds, lightning and japanese maple leaves). You could say I have a thing for storms

Thus Sinha Kumori was born.

Yoshiyuki comes from the sword in Final Fantasy VII - when one ally is down, the sword's power doubles; when two allies are down, the sword's power triples. I'm a healer main, so I think it's interesting to imagine that my morale increases when the party's struggling. I'm also support-oriented in general. I want to do my best to help others succeed. My last name, Ly, is a Vietnamese surname. I had a bunch of Vietnamese friends in high school. They taught me a lot, through bad experiences, about why I'm better off isolating myself and my own needs from others, but I still care about helping other people with whatever they need.

Basically, I have a lot of devotion and empathy for supporting others while keeping myself closed off and minding my own business.

Higurashi anime, bout all I can say. Do kinda wish I had gone with something different but my usual username wouldn't work (as most mmos I play dont require a first and last) so just went with the current anime I was hooked on at the time. Do enjoy the reactions I get from some people, thought it was funny doing an Aurum Vale run had a person get mad, not because of my name but because the name she tried (also a character in Higurashi) was not available.

The only interesting name story I have is for my alt, "Vhalla La", which is a name I've used for alts in other MMOs (including the last name). I typically create her as a rather statuesque nordic/valkyrie type. So, she was born in FFXIV as a Highlander. This was an alt, so when it finally struck me after several weeks that just by name she HAD to be a Lalafel, I was fairly embarrassed that I didn't see it right off.

Needless to say, she's now a cute lil blonde Lalafel valkyrie thanks to fantasia.
