A ping time of 200ms is not all that terrible, all thing considered. Not good by any means, but not terrible. It is far worse than we could have imagined. I live in eastern Canada. My ping to Montreal was 25ms and I had zero packet losses. Now that the data centers are in Sacramento, my pings over the past hour have ranged from 100-210ms and I've been getting a lot of packet losses. I can't play like this. We need an eastern NA data center. I wonder if SE would give me a refund on Stormblood cause this connection is 5-8 times worse than it was before. If you don't think 150-210ms is bad considering I am on the same continent, my ping results to Germany are only 130-164ms. I might as well just play on an EU data center even though I live in NA.
Non-trivial amounts of packet loss on the other hand can really make things bad and suggests there is a problem somewhere along the way.
