cant find a dps job in this game that i don't have a problem with

all ranged dps are weenie hut jrs so that's off the table, dragoon makes me want to drink bleach with all 50 of it's ridiculous pos reqs that are impossible when your df tank is playing dance dance revolution with all the enemy mobs, monk would be great if greased lightning wasn't an annoying mechanic to deal with and Ninja is the closest thing to a decent dps class in this game but even still it is plagued by the same crap in a much more integral and concerning matter.

Why is trick attack an ability that requires positioning? Guess what, the tank turned. Now your burst cd is on cd and you didn't even get to use it for anything. Pisses me right off.

    Then there are Mudra.

The lag, how slowly handsigns are performed in sequence, how you CANNOT interrupt a sequence with an ability or your ability to perform handsigns and jutsu go on a 20 second cooldown because you butterfingered a key.

please tell me Samurai will be better. =\

I'm sure it will come with some buff or whatnot you'll have to manage or a convoluted combo system where if you screw up, you lose.

    So.. it wouldn't be ^^

    Weenie hut juniors? Whatever.

The need to troll is a particularly unattractive trait.

My first DPS was ARC/BRD back in 2013. I then found myself trying DRG and eventually NIN (I don't care for casters, and I couldn't do MNK).

BRD, DRG, and NIN, while fun for me, makes me sad in the raid scene due to my lack of high dps, although I'm hitting all combos and abilities (every Trick Attack landed and Dots don't fall).

That said, my last resort was tank (started the game as CNJ). I had leveled both WAR and PLD to Lv50 in 2.x but didn't do anything with them. I tried PLD after my NIN wasn't accepted into Statics (thanks to fflogs), and found tanking to be more of my speed.

Unlike my DPS classes, I took time to research and learn PLD...and when my PLD was doing more damage in Shield Oath that my NIN was (who was higher iLv than my PLD at the time), I knew I had to re-evaluate my job/class/role.

My PLD's dps, while still low by today's standards, is gradually getting higher and higher (reaching 2k dps as PLD happened unintentionally, but made me happy). I like DRK and WAR as well, but PLD is my main. I'll be going into 4.0 as PLD.

Yeah, there's not much variety in the DPS class design, and at times SE has felt they need to narrow the scope instead of broaden it.

For FFXIV, I just heal and sometimes tank. For DPS-type stuff I go to other games. Anyways... Samurai is only going to be more of the same. Just some new visuals and maybe slightly different button sequences.

what else do you call sitting in the back flinging poo at bosses and taking a quarter of the skill it does to play melee DPS?

    probably something like "viability" xD

nin can be hard to play if you forget your poison and you aren't good at juggling buffs

i have to admit even i am struggling to get used to playing again after being away from the game for a few years now

well i'll be the last person to say i'm not jaded but I think for what FFXIV is the development team has done a pretty good job distinguishing a few of their classes. but with my luck as hype as i am for sam, rdm will probably end up being more my speed lol

I think you need some fresh bait because it smells pretty rotten in this thread.

But since I'm bored out of my mind I guess I'll attempt to reply.

First off; BRD/MCH are used in speed kill comps and are considered two of the hardest jobs to min-max in damage, MCH more so than BRD. They can hardly be called unskilled or nonviable, which is what I think you meant to type.

Second off; according to your lodestone page you have no DPS at level 60. That means you have never had the chance to try any Job's level 60 rotation, which means you're basing your opinion on incomplete DPS toolkits making them feel lackluster.

DRG only has 4 positionals; Heavy Thrust, Chaos Thrust, Fang And Claw, and Wheeling Thrust. Also your DRG is level 50 so you only have access to Heavy Thrust and Chaos Thrust.

Greased Lightning is extremely easy. The stance buffs tell you 99% of the time what skill to press. If you can't keep GL up then you're not hitting the right buttons. I'm honestly surprised you didn't rant about MNK's positional requirements, who have 6 skills with positionals.

How does forgetting poison make NIN hard to play? It's literally one button press at the start of the dungeon and how 0 effect on your rotation. The debuffs are very easy to handle if you use a proper opener which sets their timers in a way that makes refreshing easy.

There are more MMOs out there other than FFXIV, never mind the fact I played the game a good bit before Heavensward was ever released.

you've obviously missed the point if that's where you're going with this

How does forgetting poison make NIN hard to play?
ummmm because you are missing 20% of your damage? its gonna be hard to reach competitive numbers without it,

    go figure

I thought you said ranged classes were weenies and didn't need skill to play?
red mage will be hybrid. just watch, it will be the new drg
