Been considering attempting it, would be interested to know what results others have had.

Synce FFXIV don't use v-sync but a capped frame rate you won't notice any improve in performance. If you don't cap the frame rate will prevent any screen tearing. Also, sudden FPS discrepancies are much more smooth.

Same, Predator X34A on a 1080ti, prior to that I had a 780ti with a Dell U2713H (Very highly specced 10bit panel but with no gsync and 60hz only).

G-Sync itself makes the biggest impact when you've got a fluctuating frame rate, not only just it stop tearing, it also seems to help reduce that feeling of the controls and game getting sluggish as you approach as low as 30fps. On the X34A, using settings (and reshade) to go between 100 and 40 fps nets absolutely no difference in how the game feels or responds, it just feels buttery smooth the whole time. On the 780ti with the Dell I used to have to drop to low settings for raids so I didn't feel the slowdown in the controls as I hit sub 60fps.

It's not as noticeable in this as it is in a faster paced shooter, but it certainly looks beautiful.

I replaced my older 144hz Asus monitor with a 27" rog swift w/gsync monitor and noticed that the rippling effect I was seeing completely disappeared. I'm using higher settings and 1440p now instead of 1080p. Same 980ti.

Basically imagine it as a Vertical Sync which works on all frame ranges from 30 to 144 with way less input lag. You get a butter smooth image no matter your FPS.
This along with more than 60 FPS makes a huge difference although in XIV you will feel it only during battles with lots of movement.
If you have the money to buy such a monitor plus the money for hardware which can push those FPS then do it it's worthy.
You can definitely see and feel the difference.
