Soooo as we are on the eve of the end of the world as we know it for us on Primal. We look back on what will be the remains of a Canadian hosted server... and look for the future in a new world! USA!

Now who else is wondering if this means, No more Level3 holding us back on connection issues, routing, lag, etc!

If we no longer have that. Then we may have some serious reason to cheer! =D

Unfortunately Level 3 is a large internet backbone, and routing through them is usually determined by ISPs, not SE or their Montreal server host. So they're, more than likely, still going to be present for a significant portion of the playbase even with the NA data centers moving to central US.

Yep, exactly. To put it in layman's terms.... Level3 doesn't run the trucks on the roads, Level3 manages the roads themselves. Your ISPs are just sending traffic over those roads.... trucks don't do well on roads that are bad.

Level3 is still in the US itself, so depending on where you are you may or may not route through it.
Being in Canada itself wasn't the issue.

Level3 is basically everywhere. There is no escaping them.

Even if your ISP doesn't route through their Montreal server, they have servers everywhere. I'm honestly expecting to start hitting their Houston servers once they move the data centers to US soil; right now I route through their Montreal servers to reach Cactuar.

They won't tell the exact location, but I believe they said they would be somewhere in the Midwest.

Nope and I doubt they will. Just trace the servers later on and you'll see where they went.

@OP the answer is simple, Comcast! you will still experience level 3 even if the data center is going to be located in the US (we don't even know if that's the case lol), maybe not as bad, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. If you are with any other provider you shouldn't be experiencing anything worse then we did have prior, we will just have to wait and see I guess.

At least then we would have quality routing, or at least the people that are living inside the wall's perimeters wouldn't have to worry
