4-Day Pass Friend Stuck in Another World, Can't do Callback Campaign

My friend recently returned on a 4 day pass debating whether or not to return for Stormblood. On his 4th day we did Palace of the Dead only for his pass to end abruptly. My friend's list shows him as being in Another World, in other words stuck in the Palace of the Dead instance. His character has been in this status for several days.

While he could simply resubscribe to resolve the issue, we really want to participate in the Callback Campaign but because his character is in Another World I have no option to Invite Friend to Return. Customer Support has been completely useless, having rejected my request because of privacy policy, misinterpreting his initial request, and finally telling him they cannot help him because the request "falls outside the scope of their services."

Please help.
