The Hellsguard are a clan of Roegadyn with body and mind tempered by the unforgiving heat of the volcanic regions they inhabit. Believing these mountains of flame to be gates to the underworld, their line has for centuries stood vigil over them to prevent the passage of souls back to the realm of the living. Their sheer girth and steely demeanor open to the Hellsguard a wide range of paths, from the martial to the monastic.

The current world has something I found mind blowing.

You get on the ferry from the Western Thanalan dock. You're out at sea, while everything looks the same, the compass shows you moving West the whole time until you reach Limsa. But wait! You end up on La Noscea's South Western side, where Limsa's docks reside! Which means when you see Limsa, you're seeing it as if you were facing in an Eastern direction!

"Pfft, the ship just sailed around the island.". Shouldn't we be able to at least see the island as we're moving around it to Limsa then? What ship would take such a wide around turn that we'd never see the island until we move back at it dead on? Or is my compass broken? Did a wizard do it?

Real world directions making sense in a game world? Mind blown. Of course it could just be laziness.

Back in FFXI, I used to know someone that really wanted to play as an Elvaan. He ended up rolling Hume because all our other buddies gave him slack about it.

Now I had a Hume because I wanted to be able to play anything efficiently enough, but also the "I want myself as a game character approach". I grew out of that phase after I was done playing the game. I already fell into wanting to play more to a fantasy character in a fantasy game approach.

Both Miqo'te and Elezen both rank tops on my badass meter. I just went with the cat because it was further different from humans.

Play elvaan in FFXI for 6years i did play Hume in FFXI for about few months then delete my 44 pug and now i;m a elezen. I was trying to be something else but i just could not be a hume if there a elvaan from the race list to pick from that and i just enjoy the overall lore and how they look so i went with elvaan again.

Let me drop some lore on ya:

The place is called O'ghomoro Volcano (not sure on the spelling). It is the homeland to both the Kobolds and the Hellsguard Roegadyn. They both have settlements inside the volcano and fight over the territory for religious reasons. The Kobold see it as the resting place of their Primal God (Titan), while the Roegadyn believe the Volcano houses a portal to Hell, and they've pledged to guard it and make sure a certain mighty Demon (Titan) never comes through.

One of the entrances to the Volcano is U'ghamaro Mines, and presumably, the mines were going to be an instanced dungeon where you fought Titan as the boss. Titan was going to be the first Primal battle and his model has been in the game since launch, but they decided to postpone the Titan battle because they thought it would be insensitive to Japanese players still recovering from the earthquake.

That's pretty cool actually. Wish there was a voice acting cutscene where some badass Roegadyn Hellsguard chief said this too me in game. But I'll just use my imagination.

They have not stated it and yeah major changes are coming for Eorzea. There's a map of northen la noscea too. And yea I do see the volcano still in the updated teaser map and it looks the same. LINK

The Volcano is huge by going by the map scale. It really wouldn't make sense if it just suddenly vanished.
