I originally started at as female Au Ra because they were so elegant (even their standing pose was so ladylike). There were some things that made me icky with them though. Scales on their legs made it hard for me to wear certain glamour items (i.e. Bridesmaid sandals, etc), lipstick colors weren't exactly the shade I wanted it, and hair seemed unbalanced to me (it was too flat at the top, etc, it's hard to explain).

Boyfriend convinced me to go female miqo'te because he was a male miqo'te and I never looked back. The ears do wonders for hair. I also really love how the devs made it so miqo'tes imitate what cats do irl. Whenever my cat girl jumps up, she scrunches her arms and legs slightly like a cat. On top of all of that, the /joy and /cry emotes make the ears and tails swish around which I really enjoy. I play as a female because I like the aesthetics (I do like delicious looking male characters though and my retainers look good if I may say so myself), and I'm female irl.

I play a Female Miqo'te mostly cause I played Hume and Elvaan in XI and cause I have always played a female character in both XI and XIV plus they get the best and most glamour options (just look around on forums at some threads about it)

I actually like all the races and I have alt-itis(played Legion and I ended up just making alts the whole time XD.) I love creating characters with some story behind them, I have Fantasia'd so much because of that .

For this current combination, I was Highlander female for a while and I felt like a change. I made this current Midlander in the Benchmark and she looked exactly like my Highlander, I changed for the difference since I was Highlander so long.

I wish there were more villages for all the sub races so my lore brain can get excited with more story ideas for all the characters I have created.

I play as a lalafell male because I loved playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. The race I played the most on there was called a Lilty. So when i got a chance to try out XI, I chose Taru Taru to keep the spiritual successor of playing short. When I joined XIV, I stayed short as a lalafell.

That's an interesting topic, it's actually something i brought up recently with my static which i tend to play a lot with (all those miqo'tes uuh)

I've always been playing females chacracters in MMOS simply because i never found a good male looking character, i've always tried to create one but they've never been as good looking as my females one.
I originally started as a female miqo'te that i liked a lot but i got bored since you're seeing miqo'tes everywhere, switched to a female Elezen that i will never forget (actually played it like 1 year or 1 year and a half out of 2 years and a half of playing this game, proof that i love my elezen). I ditched my elezen because i couldn't find a decent NIN glamour and went to female hyur.

And one day, i don't know what the actual F** hapened to me but i was in a bizarre mood and i went into a male lalafell, that's the first time ever in a decade that i created a male character that i love, and i really like all the glamours and tiny mounts !

And once you became a Swagafell, you can't turn back, this is so fucking cool.

I used to say "lalas are food and potatoes etc..." but now that i've discovered the joy of the master race.

For and extra story, i actually won a bet with my static and 4 out of 6 people turned into lalafells (you know, the master race im actually playing), turns out they love it and find it pretty fun, im sure some of them will stay as lalafells a long time now :P

Cheers from my summer lalafell, come say hi if you're on Moogle !

As for myself, I started out as a female Au Ra because it was cute, and the Raen were great as healers.

Somewhere along the way I decided that I should DPS instead and decided to go male Elezen, Duskwight, as I always had a thing for male elves plus they had the intellect.

At first I was pretty hesitant but I managed to get something good out of the character creator. And now there is no way in hell I will ever go back to anything else.

Yes, I fell in love with a bunch of pixels. And yes, I will be going back to healing in Stormblood regardless of being a Duskwight. #Elezenmasterrace

Interesting, there's so many male Roegadyn that post in the Show Your Roe thread but not here.

Well, I initially fantasia'd to male Roegadyn when I saw a friend play it after he switched from male Miqo'te, and I thought, wow, he handled it pretty well. Because, on Shiva, for some reason people like playing Roegadyn as a "joke" race, so they'll make them almost nude and give them makeup and stuff. But when I saw his, I changed to it. Now the main reason wasn't just that, but since then it's grown on me that I'm more or less the glue that keeps my static/group of friends together, so since Roegadyn have the longest/largest arm span, it feels like I could grab them all and keep them together. :P

Besides that, Roegadyn are the largest race, so there's that too. I hulk over my entire static since no one else is neither Roegadyn, Elezen or Au Ra. On top of that, my fiance prefers me to play Roegadyn, though he doesn't play much anymore. I'm also a guy in real life, if that's any relevance.

I was a fem cat girl for a little bit, but I changed as a person and became more confidant in who I ak as a person in real life and reflected that in game by changing my character to look like me in real life. The cat person aspect stayed because this is still a fantasy mmo and I might as well be thematic too. Hyurs and elezen are too serious looking and lalas are too goofy. I like my compromise.

    Male Aura:
Gender because I'm a guy IRL. Never felt the need to represent myself as anything else.
I've played as a Midlander and a Miqote before. Midlanders are too baby-face for me. And some of the hairstyles make them look too androgynous for me. Plus I don't like their default stance.
Miqotes had similar issues as Midlanders. Too much baby-face, although I like their arms-crossed stance the most.
Highlanders have the beards I want, but not the faces. They all look like surly old men.
Male Roes are just too Solomon Grundy looking for my taste.
Elezens all look like they have a chip on their shoulder.
Auras just have what I like. They're tall but with a thin, sleek figure. Hairstyles that compliment their faces, and the scales on their face do enough to give them a more rugged look. They have excellent posture that makes them look professional and dignified without looking condescending in nature (no offense elezens peeps, just my opinion). They look fit enough to be a ninja and strong enough to carry dark Knights greatsword.
