Yes I know exactly how the community is, which is my point of my post.Lolz, you haven't really paid attention about how the community feels about mentors.
All mentors are just self serving meanies that are only in it for the crown and the mount, who will refuse to continue if there is a wipe. Will not help newbs because they are heartless. Will berate other players for being terribads, well at least bad in their eyes. And are just a scourge and a cancer in the land if Eorzea.
Lifting the bonus lock out will just bring more, "A mentor was so mean to me!" threads to the forums.

And god forbid I get something out of the deal, even if it's just the same amount of exp I'd be getting if I'd just queued into leveling roulette normally and been put in with the exact same group. If I want even that tiny reward in return for my help, I must be stopped at all costs, and if that means some poor sprouts wait an hour for a replacement tank in Toto-rak because I'm leveling Maurader in PotD instead of Mentor Roulette, well...I guess they're better off learning early how much DPS queues suck in this game, right?
I mean, they already have a system in place that lets you queue for a roulette (Leveling, Frontlines, Trials, and maybe MSQ do this) and only lets it plunk you into dungeons your current level or lower, so it's not like it's a ridiculous request.
And as sexy as Astrophe is, it will be a very, very long time before I'm even remotely close to getting it, so it's not the best thing to hold up as an example of 'look, you DO get a reward for your time!'

This is why I 'don't' want to become a mentor. I help my sproutlings because its fun.
