Need collectable advice I am very confused.

I tried reading a guide online that absolutely insisted I needed 600gp to even start. Well 300k gil and a bunch of overmelds later I got my gear to 570gp and bought really expensive food.

I went to a node near tail feather only to discover I can't collectable until after gathering it normally once after I already ate my 3000gil food. (Fail!) The guide also did a terrible job explaining rotation I have literally 6 different collectible skills and they are all in gibberish. When I finally got to try I broke the item or something and it kicked me off the gathering node, which isn't nearly as bad as the time I frantically was reading the skills wondering which one to use only for it to time out on me.

Seriously what am I supposed to do lol??? I just want to get to 60 before storm blood.

Some of the guides are "outdate" because of counterfoils nerf. What I did was:

- Level 58 gear from moogles.

- NQ Adamantite tools.

- HQ accessories with regular melds.

- No food.

This rotation for counterfoil (380+): Discerning Eye -> Methodical Appraisal -> Discerning Eye -> Methodical Appraisal -> Discerning Eye -> Methodical Appraisal. Collect x 2.

This one for 450 and 470 collectibles: Discerning Eye -> Methodical Appraisal -> Discerning Eye -> Methodical Appraisal -> Ultmost Caution -> Methodical Appraisal -> Ultmost Caution -> Methodical Appraisal. Collect x 1.

By the time you improve your gear (180 gear) you can use this rotation (450): Discerning Eye -> Methodical Appraisal -> Single Mind -> Methodical Appraisal -> Single mind -> Methodical Appraisal. Collect x 3.

Also utilize " Garlands Tools " Kudos to the developer of that site. Has an entire list of collectible timers, locations, etc. Very through list of everything necessary to be a successful gatherer! Also don't forget to purchase cordials at Idyll - another benefit to collecting

My advice would be to go find one of the ever-present nodes and try out the skills yourself(you can skip the food during practice, but 600 gp really is the minimum when you try for real). Something like the eventide jade near anyx trine(or maybe the far eastern coins zhloe sometimes likes). Test how strong your Meth is - you want it to do 115 unbuffed(this is the cap). These are the skills most people use, so get to know them:

Methodical Appraisal - Your basic collectability raising skill
Discerning Eye - Boost your next appraisal by 50%(200gp)
Utmost Caution - Your next appraisal uses up 5 less durability(100gp)
Single Mind - Your next appraisal doesnt use a gathering step(200gp)
Impulsive Appraisal - Slightly weaker collectability skill, can proc a free Discerning Eye

The rest of the skills are either garbage or situational. Pay close attention to durability, if you go over you basically wont get the item in the end. You get 30 points to play with, and the good appraisal skills use 10 per(or 5 with UC), so that means 3 quality raises before you break the item. Need more quality? Well DE is 50% on one step, or use UCs on seperate steps to get in a 4th quality improvement. If youre on a 4 swing node you can only do the 4 step improvement if you mix in a SM at some point to give you the extra step to gather(though using it for an extra item on 5 or 6 swing nodes is very valid as well). Once youre comfortable with that, you can try out Impulsive to see how often you save 200gp on proc'd DEs(giving you more points for SM). In no time you'll be flooding Rowena's storehouses with collectables, and your pockets with profit.

IMO 600GP are not that hard to get and should be cheaper than a full lvl 60 white set.

OK looking at your screenshot. if that was done using my 400gp rotation. your methodical appraisal hits for 92 collectability. (The maximum is 115 so you're 23 below cap.)

That being the case I would suggest you focus on increasing your perception instead of aiming for 600 GP. because even if you hit 600 GP. with your current perception and do disc+meth 3 times. your collectability will still come up low even with 600gp

Your fist Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisal would get you 138 collectability (92*1.5)
Your second Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisal would put you at 276 collectability (92*1.5)
Your third Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisal would put you at 414 collectability.(92*1.5)

However if you were to focus on increasing your perception instead of your GP and get your standard methodical to 115. then my 400 GP rotation would work like this.
Your first Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisial would get you 172 collectability (115*1.5)
Your second Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisal would put you at 344 collectability (115*1.5)
Your final Methodical Appraisal would put you at 459 collectability. (115)

So I would definitely suggest you prioriise your perception instead of your GP. once your perception is up a bit you could probably get the 180 scrips gear with relative ease and that should easily push you over 600gp.. It's 657GP at i200 I think the i180 is about 650GP for the full set.... not top end but should certainly be a very low cost way into 4.0

I don't fully agree, with that gear and 600 GP I manage to do all my collectibles for tokens in a much cheaper (and lasting way, because 180 ILvL accessories are mostly similar to a melded HQ dragonskin ones). After the nerf, Khole and squadron players should save all the gil they can (in my server both HQ adamantite tools can cost near 1 million).

However, if you have a friend or your server is "cheap" then your method is better (no need to wait around 2 weeks for Khole). BTW, for collectables what you need is perception.

Note: With the removal of scrip cap after SB I recommend to anyone to farm now his ILvL 180 gear, use red scrip to upgrade your accessories and the rest after SB release, the jump from ARR to HW without good gathering gear (outside that basic HQ set) was so painful...

Sorry I actually didn't know they nerfed the counterfoils stuff to 380... in which case.. I'd still suggest aiming on perception only to a lower extent

If Driavna got there perception just a little higher. (there methodical currently hits for 92.) if they could get methodical appraisal to hit for 95. then my 400gp rotation would net them the 380 collectability they need for counterfoil items.

DE + MA (95*1.5)=142.
DE+ MA (95*1.5) =142
MA = 95. Total would be 379. should then let them hit counterfoil items around 383-385...

Shouldn't take a huge amount of perception to do either. might even be able to land it with a few cheap perceptions foods. I dunno how expensive dhalmel fricassee is on they're server.even the NQ might be enough to get methodical to 95. (29 extra perception) maybe a couple of cheap melds....

that would then allow them to get the counterfoils pretty easily and get a a reasonable amount of blues from Zhloe... a 380 collectable ice stagalmite is a 100 blue scrips. so 6 of them a week would get you the 12 tokens you need for a 180 tool for example

from that point i'd aim towards my earlier post. aim to get your perception higher so you can farm the 450 blue scrip items and speed up your progress.

So the plan i'd suggest would be this. (very low cost and quick as possible)
1:- stack a little more perception. cheap food or some perception melds. just to get your methodicals to hit 95.
2:- with that gather the items for counterfoils and blues for zhloe. using the 400gp rotation.
3:- if you get 600 blues from zhloe turn them into 12 tokens and upgrade to the 180 boots and hat. (biggest perception gains) convert any reds you get into blues and use them to get the 180 offhand tool (again more perception than main hand)
5:- that should hopefully put methodicals around 115 you should then be able to gather morel / cuprites and stuff which will help you get the rest of your gear upgraded to 180 that much faster.

If you do this you'll find youre GP hits 650 pretty quick. once you can do 450 collectables and can do the gathering receipts. it will take 13 blue tokens to do your right side...

If you had a few hours you could eaily be full i180 with 650GP in less than a day and at very little cost.... the biggest time sink would be waiting on unspoiled nodes
