PotD should be ready made for those NPC characters in 4.1 onward.
Maybe then i'll finally see floors 101+

Make it happen.
I got so annoyed with the skip everything mentality that I eventually stopped queueing in groups all together. Now I duo with a friend and we consistently get to at least 180~
We even got to 175 with only a SCH and BLM. A Black Mage tank. We only wiped because at that point one particular enemy was hitting way too hard.
If you don't like the way people play, find a way you can enjoy it on your own. Since you've friends, you can go with them! It's more fun to enjoy it in the way you like, at your own pace. It works with any job combination/healer. For example, DRG/AST has our fastest time through 100-150.

The infamous "skip mentality" gone so far to see people run to inactive gates and stay there, or just keep looking at you while you killing solo a mob in front of them faces, on daily basis.
But not everything is negative, think at it: all those people stay in potd and not infesting duties and other content, isn't that a god bless?
Sitting on an UNOPENED gate is an entirely different animal. The infamous "skip mentality" gone so far to see people run to inactive gates and stay there, or just keep looking at you while you killing solo a mob in front of them faces, on daily basis.

Once the gate is open, yes, beeline for it and move on. You get more rewards per hour by speedrunning everything. But, if it's not open yet, that's just griefing.
There's no reason to change the game, but there's a reason to change someones attitude. Your friends clearly didn't know what they were doing, they also didn't implemented themselves in the group or otherwise they wouldn't have been somewhere in the hallways/other rooms while everybody else moved on already. That's again the issue, nothing else and the game does not need to be adjusted or changed.
It's not the first time you're complaining, take your friends and run the content with them, open a PF, go with FC. If you all can't handle the DF because people are not willing to play the way you want them too, then stay out of it. Not to mention it's potd for crying out loud, you could solo it or with somebody that wants to help lol
I still dont understand why your friends just dont run it fixed? I mean it is soloable so doing it with two people (one a healer) should be way enough. And even if you are on different server I cant just believe that she/he does not know at least another person in the game on the same server. You are also able to get to 99 by only running the first few floors. It might take longer but since your friends want to open all chests anyway then this shouldnt be much of a problem.
Also the palace does not have rules that say that it should be played this and that way. If you go with randoms, just ask at the beginning how they want to run it. If most of them want to do it the fast way you could still ask if they can open at least the chests on the way to the door and if not, well you can either leave or run it with them and hope for some chests in the rooms you run through.
I am also kinda surprised that someone has a help/call macro? Normally I would use macros to explain something that takes some time to type so why have a macro for asking help? Maybe they did not notice that this macro felt like spam for the rest? So thats why the other person also later spammed his help request? As a sarcastic reminder of your friend doing the same?
And if they were two people, why did they need the help anyway? Other than going into a lure trap which still should be manageable with two people, there should be no monster that could not be killed by two characters. And if your friend went into a room and pulled everything..well thats one them I guess?
Really I dislike toxic player too but in this situation I just cant take the side of your friends. You also only know about it by word because you were not there yourself. Maybe there is more to it? Or they just took it the wrong way?
Because many people are convinced there is one right way to do it, and they want validation that they are correct and random parties should conform to that.
In reality, speedrunners and chest runners are both entitled to run the way they want. You just have to roll with the majority. But, people don't want to hear that.
Also, many love to argue about what the devs intended. Because that's somehow relevant. You see it here, on talks about shitty healers not DPS'ing, all over the place.
Well, if I'm tanking, I go where I want and usually that means everyone follows me. If I'm not tanking, then I carefully maneuver to avoid confrontations while still exploring as much of the area as I can, while ignoring the group unless they need my help.
If I can't find a silver chest within a reasonable amount of time before they activate the gate (and they want to go through the gate), then I give up my endeavor. Basically, this is what you should be doing. Every man for himself. No complaints. If you have different play styles then adhere to your limits to play individually until the time comes where progression means playing as a team.
My approach to this is to help people who are in combat once the gate opens (if I am the only one wanting silver chests I'll just suck it up and move on). If i see people sitting on the gate I simply inform them the run will be faster if they help. If they continue to sit on the gate while other people are looking for silver chests or whatever, I simply ignore them. Their hunger for a speedrun is actually slowing them down, so I get a chuckle out of it. Speedrunners are the ones who should be forming premades, since if they want a fast run it makes more sense to queue with 3 other like-minded people.
