I'd rather see fans, personally. And if there are stancy things, they'd be Fan Dance and Sword Dance.

Dancer with hoop blades or chakrams is definitely how I picture them. But I don't know about hurling them at allies to heal them... sounds painful! I imagine them channeling aether via dancing to conjure restorative "magic". If they could utilize both MP and TP as resources that would be very interesting.

I'm also in the boat of wanting any form of dancer in game. Fans, ring blades/chakrams, cloth/scarf/ribbon (FFT), whatever weapon. Take dances from FF11 (curing waltz, drain samba, etc.).

Could even make DNC a frontline healer, if not getting new abilities could just take the "step" actions from FFXI as like a 1-2-3 melee combo.

    Just please give us dancer...

I actually have a healer dancer designed that I've been working on that I can share for anyone interested. The idea is that Dancers are melee ranged, TP-resource healers that scale their healing and their damage with Dexterity. Their healing is overall weaker than the current healers, but they can heal several times in the time a White Mage or other could heal once thanks to Drain Samba. This comes at a heavy DPS loss though. I imagined they'd use Dancing Daggers and/or Silks as weapons. They are designed with no shields and no HoTs, but much heavier raw mitigation than the current healers as well, so keep that in mind.

Every action in their arsenal is inspired by dancers from past Final Fantasy titles.

Calca and Brina inspired Jive and Jitterbug, as well as the elemental manipulation in the kit.

Earth Blues was named after one of Mog's dances in FF6.

Tactics/Penelo in TA2 inspired the debuffs such as Polka, Heathen Frolic, and Blade Dance.

FF11's Dancer inspired their healing actions (Curing Waltz, Divine Waltz, etc.)

X-2's Sonstress inspired some of the quirky abilities such as Carnival Cancan and Magic Mambo (Originally MP Mambo).

And of course the first instance of Dancer, FFV's Dancer, has Tempting Tango as a disable.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to identify how balanced this would be with the current healers without being able to prototype it and identify what their overall DPS would be, or their HPS would be. Also, because we have no healer that uses TP, I had to take some shots in the dark for TP costs. If this were to happen, it would require a lot of testing and rebalancing before it could be a real thing.

So I have been working on this for awhile so feel free to posy any feedback. I will like to point out that this was made with 3.0 in mind as we don't know what changes 4.0 will bring.

At first I had the same basic idea for Dancer, TP healer, melee ranged with heals that scale based off dex but overall I found it hard to balance out and math out the resource management/usage. So instead I decided to have their heals use MP when casting spells and TP when using weaponskills. Weaponskills and damaging ability use dex and heals use mind. Dancer's Main stat however is dex so dancer get it's own form of cleric stance that swaps dex and mind.

I also decided that instead of dancer being able to switch between WHM HoT and SCH shield dancer instead has an ability that allows it to turn it's basic heal into a shield. This means that the dancer can place a 400pot shield however the ability is on a cooldown and causes the heal to cost more. I though this was best since the shield would end up being stronger than SCH & AST shields. Dancer also has an AOE HoT but it's doesn't have an initial heal attached to it so instead of it being a Medica II copy it's a Whispering Dawn copy with a slightly higher potency. Because of this dancer end us being able to fulfill both role just not fully and honestly I think it's for the best as trying to make every new healer be able to fulfill both roles fully can lead to those jobs the role where molded after to fall in popularity (WHM).

I gave dancer a second stance that raises their defenses, healing potency, and reduces their enmity making it too valuable not to use, all at the cost of your TP. Why, because I figured that giving the dancer two resources to use without much to use it on was a bad idea. Dancer is a healer so anything that increases your healing potential is top priority even if it means wasting TP and sacrificing your dps resource.

I decided to help make dancer feel even more unique (at least for a healer) I would have them use the Ninja's Ninjutsu system. Why because I wasn't feeling FFXI's dancer's Finisher stack managment as it seemed too similar to Aetherflow stack management and we don't need another SCH.

So dancer's dps potential. IF I did my math right dancer will end to having the best single target dps for healers but the worst aoe dps. I mean they can start off strong but once they use Grand Pas, place a Butoh (Doton) and maybe use their Peals they are left will unenhanced Deathblossom.

So for raider you shouldn't have to worry about accuracy with dancer because they use the same gear a NIN so they already have good accuracy. If anything you may want to use those materia slots on pie as dancer's pie will not increase with gear progression. Well not unless square decides to give Scouting gear pie which... yeah let's hope that doesn't become a thing or just stick with crit cause who knows maybe I gave them enough MP to work with.

You may also noticed that I only used some of the well known dancer actions and that's because jive, cancan, and jitterbug sound dumb (sorry if I comes off harsh) so I went with some unique dance names and I decided to keep the names simple as adding extras to them made them sound cheap to me.

ETA: Oh and if you're wondering Rustling Gale, Alluring Peal, and Still Peal aren't "magic" based actions but instead will be the dancer using their fan to stir the wind to deal ranged damage.
Also I may of gone to healer on the dancer resource restoration abilities. Chacha, Aspir Samba, No Foot Rise, cross class Goad. Not sure if I just made dancer replace BRD and MCH lol

Seems to me that if they go forward with classes like dancer, blue mage, beast master and other popular but non conventional classes they may want start making support classes a thing
