I love it when posters like the op sometimes dare to ask something new and innovative as opposed to expecting SE to fill in the bare bones basic features of an mmo (that admittedly do need their own posts too).

This idea is pure genius! I'd take it a step further even. If your weapon, armor or tools are outdated, it would suggest possible replacements. If you are getting near a replacement (1 or 2 levels) than a suggestion should popup as well.

But the scanning your inventory and making suggestions on what you could possible make is brilliant.

I think the shopping cart idea has merit and idk if it's laziness per sae more just convenience. Instead of having to write down all your mats needed for your 'shopping list' it provides one for you.

I do see what you are saying at the same time Plague, and I think it was in jest but at least it was an idea rather than the usual QQing about how something new is broken before we even have tested it yet.

I will say this off topic though, this post was a nice change from the complaints seemingly taking over the forums so imho it's refreshing to see some adults talking instead of bickering. Thanks to you all for bringing some faith back to me in the community. (^.^)

I'm thrilled that we are finally getting this feature. I've gone through quite a few leveled with gimped gear (i.e ARC 30-28 with pretty much the same set) because going into the wards eats up my time.

But some features I'd like to see in the future, most likely 2.0, is a shopping cart feature and a wish list.

Shopping Cart: We can choose to select everything we want to buy in one transaction. Seeing all of our items laid out in a menu before any gil is actually exchanged. This would help in buying gear sets if you only wanna spend a set amount of money. Weighing the pros and cons of how much you really wanna spend on each piece. A lot of people do this on paper before hand already.

Wish List: A set list in a window that pops up every time you enter the wards that displays any items you have flagged and their current price, average or lowest. Average for things like mats cause you'd probably want to buy them in bulk and lowest for single items. Also the amount available. I know people do this on paper and in forums as well.

Does anyone think these would be useful enough to devote time and energy to? Or do they seem too superfluous?

this will never work. here is why:

how will they control the movement of items if multiple people have the same item in their shopping cart?

answer:

they wont.
if they do decide to lock that item out after a person selects it and keep it locked until they purchase or exit, then we would have people being douchbags and locking out their competitors items out and then go afk so the only items available for purchase are their own.

You haven't purchased the item when it is your cart. It will still be on the market. Intelligent people wouldn't put the last of a specific item in high demand in a shopping cart and let it sit there while others could still buy it before they "check out". Works the same way for online stores.

maybe i didnt make myself clear enough so ill try again

based on what you replied to my post: if the item isnt locked out when its in your cart, then someone else can come along in the 5 mins or so that you are "shopping" and buy it out from under you.

This will never be implimented and this thread should move onto discussing something that actually might happen. like the wish list idea you posted. that might actually happen and is a good idea. Shopping cart will never happen.

But this happens now! Two people could be looking to buy the same item off the same retainer and one of them is going to leave disappointed. Every time you attempt to purchase something from the Market Wards there is always a chance someone will swoop in seconds before you and snatch up that item.

Precisely. It could prompt you when you add an item to the cart if there are less than 3 of said item left. "Due to the low supply of this item it may be purchased by someone else. Are you sure you don't want to buy it now?" or something hopefully more brief and aptly worded.

You know what would be nice to have on the market? A little advertisement from the seller.
You could invest in to having your name appear in gold or a little slogan for the stuff you sell.
Just a thought though.
