question about reddit ffxiv state of game

Wow what's with the reddit hate on here? I honestly find reddit better than the official forums. Just don't take everything on reddit as fact the same way you would on the official forums if someone made a thread saying something that isn't confirmed.

When I had to deal with SE support over my double charge issue, a vast majority of the Reddit community said it was my fault for the double charge, yes my fault for a system error on either Mogstation or my bank. The Reddit community went as far to say that I wouldn't likely get my account back for asking for a reversal, and that I was a horrible customer to do that to SEs bottom line. I proved the Reddit community wrong, I got my account back, and even just added a 4th retainer to my sub. I don't hate the Reddit community for their ignorance as that can't be helped, I dislike it for their belief that they're always correct and the blind white knighting of SE. Granted the official forum has white knights, nothing on here compared to idiocy I read that day on reddit.

That is why i refrain from posting there a lot. They abuse the down vote button and anyone who does not hive mind will get down voted into oblivion. Example, Someone posted that they weren't happy with some feature added, and contributed to the discussion nicely but got down voted lol.

While reddit does post nice info now and then, I still prefer to post here...at least you can't get hated on for having a different opinion ^^

Also I remember your post on there...felt bad for how they were attacking you :/ glad you got your account back ^^

Thank you that means a lot, once I was able to get ahold of someone reasonable at CS it made the situation a million times more easy, seems there was confusion on their part and my banks part. But it's over and here I am still playing and handing over more even money to SE lol.

I sympathise with your story. There are a lot of people which just say ignorant stuff. Particularly with situations like this where it has been an issue in several cases now. The community should be discussing SE's short fallings, particularly when they are very specifically SE's fault like in this case.

That said...

I have a pet peeve with people using the terms fanboy and White Knighting. I get the logic for it but much of the time its uses as a term to dismiss other people's opinions when they aren't negative towards some aspect of SEs work.

Any public forum is going to have its share of trolls, ignorant people, those with almost fanatical loyalty and people who just want to complain about everything. I wouldn't specifically say reddit is hugely worse than say this place but it has had its moments. On the flipside I saw a thread there once which was almost the exact opposite of what happened to you.
