state of game. i heard alot weird rumor coming coming for that reddit i first want know if any them are true or should the be ingore. there claim that ffxiv drop down 300k players which seem not as value as most claims

Short answer: It's Reddit, you take that with a shaker of salt, not a grain.

Longer answer: XIV has dropped a number of subs lately, that much is true; however, this is mostly due to the fact that we're in a content lull while waiting for an expansion. I would expect on the next couple weeks to see an up-tick in numbers as people come back to prep for it and likely by the 9th numbers will be up again. Reddit has a tendency to take any normal downward shift and turn it into, "The game is dying!!"

It's as reliable as this forum or any other media/networking outlet aka facebook, twitter, youtube etc. IF it's not posted/confirmed/announced by an SE official staff/Forum staff etc, you shouldn't take it serious, since it won't be a set in stone kinda thing. Any information posted by others are always subject to be changed or/and hearsay, misinterpretations, non official statements and should always be interpreted that way.

If I listened to Reddit now, I'd never play FFXIV, but I came here when ARR came out so everyone was raving about it on Reddit back then. FFXIV doesn't have a massive playerbase, that much is true, but what we have is active and you shouldn't have a problem doing any content. This is why syncing is a beautiful thing.

Rift and Wildstar on the other hand are most definitely dead.

50. Subscriptions dropping as flies. Despite even the less frequented servers started to have login queue times, and the recent SE's statement about maybe add one or two new servers in EU datacenters to help the situation, numerous reports from unknown sources are stating a severe drop in subscriptions, causing SE to take the servers offline because the game will be no longer profitable.

It's worth mentioning that FFXIV broke its record for all time peak and average players on Steamcharts in February (Well, in January and then once again in Feb). It's not quite as high right now but it's still doing very well there. Granted, it's only one section of the playerbase but unless anyone else has actual data instead of speculation...



I would expect another surge with stormblood. And then probably some dropoff but overall still very strong and steady. SE doesn't release numbers related to active subs so we won't have a complete picture, but I don't see any need for doom and gloom.

Wow what's with the reddit hate on here? I honestly find reddit better than the official forums. Just don't take everything on reddit as fact the same way you would on the official forums if someone made a thread saying something that isn't confirmed.

Also I will be honest with you the sub numbers are not as high as you think. I would say its in the 400k-500k range and that's being generous. It will increase with the expansion but drop again quite quickly. It's not really being doomsayers but looking at the game realistically based on some data people have gathered. The data isn't from SE so you can't say its official but its the closest thing to active players of some form pulling data from the lodestone.

If you don't see a source on the post then don't believe it straight away. Most of the time people would put a source with it to prove what they say.

Also generally you get information faster due to people looking at the JP forums quite often ;D
