Bravely Default was created to be like the older FFs anyway(still haven't finished it, I prefer the vocation system in DQ7 to the FF class system). It is all Japanese stories influenced by Japanese folklore, Susano'o makes me think of Naruto Shippuden personally. There are so many Kaguya's in Japanese anime/stories it isn't funny, wouldn't be surprised to see the princess from the Moon make an appearance either.

FF games have always tapped into old mythology for names. Even someone minor enemies we fight have names which often reference mythology. Ethys Asher's lore tours are based around that and pointing out the references.

Its like the Frog skill we see NIN use in the Benchmark. People instantly think Naruto but those Naruto characters are copied from Japanese Folklore.

I'm only so consternated because Susano is being lauded as "An original primal just for FF14" when it's just fat Odin with a name lifted wholesale from Shintoism. I mean cool, fine, use mythos from wherever for inspiration, but don't give me that "Original character do not steal" junk when you made Fat Japanese Odin, dude.

Even Kefka can be said to be based on the writings of Franz Kafka.

My first exposure to a "Susano-o" was from Digimon Frontier. I think. Although even then I might've been dimly aware of it being a mythology thing.
