I just don't understand the "if people don't like the story they should be playing another MMORPG" mentality.

    1. Clearly the entire start of my thread was pointing out individuals who want to play this game but don't want to grind the story. So by definition I'm showing that there are people who want to play this game who are not about the story. You some how know better than what they want? Like what? Just go look at the Novice Linkshell that returning players get to join currently and see all the griping about the MSQ grind. Clearly there are a lot of people in this boat. So again what on earth are you arguing when you says people who don't like the story should be playing another MMORPG.

    2. I can take this silly argument to the next level and say "Well if you are so into story than you shouldn't be playing an MMORPG at all!". Please go play a single player final fantasy game instead and stop trying to force story on people who want to play an MMORPG. Yay for silly arguments.

    3. Are all you MSQ enforcers sitting around at max level after you have finished the MSQ just reminiscing about the amazing adventure you had during the story? Or wait have you moved on to a different MMORPG? Cause there is clearly no reason to do any of the other stuff in this game after the MSQ is over.

    4. I personally don't love or hate the story but I am here because I love the final fantasy feel of the world and classes. I love the complexity of the classes and their rotations. I love the primal fights. Hey look, people can like different things!

I also don't get this hate for jump potions. It is a win win for everyone. How is allowing others to skip the story bad for you? This only allows the game to grow because it keeps the revolving door of MMORPGs turning. People leave MMORPGs all the time but you don't want to make it difficult for new players taking their place to join. More growth and money for the developers means more and faster content for everyone. I can only think the hate from jump potions is some sort of emotional knee jerk reaction. People keep focusing on the situation with my friends and trying to provide very specific advice for that and don't see this is a problem for the game as a whole and will only become bigger with more expansions.

Running roulettes, including leveling and Main Story, so that new players have a populated dungeon queue so they can have a good experience leveling and experiencing the dungeon content, much like the one I had while leveling.

That being said, I will always be against removal of content, as it makes little sense for the devs to waste their time on changing and removing old content for the sake of those that don't care about it in the first place, and no amount of "trimming the fat" is going to make those players care.

Implement a system for skipping, sure, but not a single word should ever be removed (hated when WoW did it, particularly since I lost some of my favorite quest lines in the process, would hate to see it happen here).

I completely agree with you. I do not in any way want people who really enjoy the story to lose out on any of it. I simply want options for people who rather catch up to the latest content over doing all the old story content to have the option to do so.

I very much doubt people are going to sign up for a subscription MMO because it now provides the option to pay extra to skip a huge chunk of it.
Skipping portions of the story isn't a major problem, charging people extra to do it is though.

Content patches have stayed roughly the same size and been delivered at roughly the same rate for the entirety of the games life after relaunch, both before and after the cash shop, and despite the shops ever growing size. More money for SE means more money for SE, nothing more, nothing less. No one is doing us a favour by using the mogstation.
