You are half right, Det really does nothing for you, per se. Det affects your pet. Det is the only way to increase your pets skills besides the linear scaling it gets with your level. Det as a stat is meh at best anyway, but ironically SCH is the only job where it does the most good. Now I'm not saying it's a large increase, if Det increases a Jobs overall damage by 1 and SCH does it by 2, yes SCH gets more but not a significant amount.
