I’m wondering if you guys and gals can help me out with something. I’ll be heading to Japan at the end of March and my first stop will be Tokyo. Since i’ll be staying there for a couple of days with 2 other Final Fantasy Fans, i wanted to try and visit the Eorzea Cafe in Akihabara.

I’ve been reading here and there that it’s possible to reserve a table through a “Loppi”-ticket machine, which i would only be able use when i’m actually there. (^_^; ) So, i was wondering if there’s a way to reserve a table a few weeks in advance and have the tickets sent to the hotel (for example).

Hence the creation of this particular thread. (^_~ )

Does anyone have any experience with getting tickets for the Eorzea Cafe? I've been looking at the official site, but i can't read Japanese and the English instructions aren't very clear. (^_^; )

First off, you need an account to be able to reserve a ticket through Lawson Ticket (which you would then pick up at the Loppi machines) in advance. I'm not sure, but you probably need a Japanese address in order to make an account. The other problem is payment. You can reserve a ticket without a Japanese credit card, but you have to pay for the ticket at a Lawson store within a few days or your ticket is cancelled. So your best bet is either to have someone you know/trust in Japan to buy the tickets for you or b) use a middle-man service such as govoyagin.com, though of course they inflate the price by a large margin in order to make a profit (for Eorzea Cafe tickets they charge 4100 yen per person, while the tickets are only 1080 yen per person, plus a charge of around 250 yen).

I would also say that depending on how long you will be here for, and how flexible you are with when you could go you likely won't have too much of a problem getting tickets. When I was just on holiday here in 2015 I managed to get tickets for about a week after I landed. Looking at the current availability on Lawson Ticket, for the next seven days there is limited availability on Friday, Monday and next Tuesday for most of the sittings. If you are going as a pair sometimes you may have to buy individual tickets (they usually do their best to sit you together in this case) or a more expensive four-person ticket (which means you get more room to put all the food!), so being as flexible as possible in terms of date, time and seating options is ideal.

There are companies which can help such as Bridge Japan (just send them a special request email and the website details, they're very flexible and reasonable). If you want to do it yourself it's as Hirskuwil says. On my last trip I reserved my tickets online then took my Loppi code to the Lawson store near my hotel and retrieved the tickets the day I arrived in Japan. Just be careful of the payment/collection deadlines. The Lawson staff can help so long as you bring all of the information in Japanese and you can use your hotel as the address, but I don't think there is much help in English when you are actually making the original reservation.

I should also add that the March/April reservations won't be available for a few weeks yet so there's plenty of time to get all of the research together and come up with a plan

Yeah it will be a fair while. Currently you can only book as far as 12th Feb and they come out in two-week bookings. I'm waiting for the next lot so I can try and get tickets for my birthday.

Thanks for the info guys. Since we will only be in Tokyo for 3 days, i'll be sure to reserve a table before we head over to Japan. I'll be talking it over with the others, but i'm guessing that going for a "middle-man"-solution (like govoyagin.com) would be best for us (even if we have to pay additional middle-man fee for it). I just want to make sure we'll be able to get a table at the Cafe. It's not like we'll get another chance for a couple of years. Hehe. (^_^ )

Nice itinerary. One of my colleagues raves about Kōya-san. I really should get up there, I'm just too lazy to leave the Greater Tokyo area XD
