Notify players when they lose their housing!

I'm a legacy player who has kept her account active since 2.0 launch. I was in grad school studying 14 hours a day to get top marks, and to celebrate my coming graduation, I logged back in only to find out my casual FC had dropped me -- to be expected -- and also I had lost everything in my residential room. This included not only millions in gil of items, but also items that cannot be replaced.

If I had any idea that my room was gone (and needed to get my stuff within a certain timeframe), I would have put down my books long enough to address this.

I was so excited to return to the game I've happily thrown a lot of money at (two collector's editions, many years a paying customer), only to be so thoroughly let down.

My suggestion: consider sending a notification to the user's email for cases where their belongings are about to be wiped out. This is a significant investment players make in their gaming experience, and this situation has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

That's a good suggestion. A quick "[This happened], you have until [X date/time] to collect your belongings from [npc] before the system automatically truncates the items in holding." email to the account holder should suffice.

They already do this. Except in advance, at the 30 or 35 day mark, to the registered email, saying the remaining days till demolish. So of course, if you get an email saying 10 days till, and it's 10 days old...

...and while I'm sure it wouldn't be too much work to have the system generate another email at the expiry it wouldn't do much of anything other than let you know you can't do anything. Pointless.

OP meant for a private room getting demolished, not a house (title is a bit misleading). That can be out of your control and if you're on break when it happens, you have no notification that there's a time limit on all those items in storage being sent to the abyss.

Title bit misleading as you DO get a notification if your house is being destroyed but i'm guessing you mean your private chambers? As for the private chamber itself if you leave a FC then a email would need to be sent straight away where as your items being stored for 30 days would be included in in the email as well.

Yeah, I lost everything in my room when my FC kicked me out for inactivity. I was really pissed off because I'm (still) broke, because I don't craft, gather or play the market, so it took time time and gils to get them, and some are expansive, like the Manor housing items or the grand-father clock, and others were seasonal items, now worth a fortune on the MB. They were kind enough to replace most of the items when I came back though, but still, a warning about my room's deletion would have been nice.

English is NOT my mother language, French is. Use my recruitment code MV9YGNXD before paying your sub and get cool items. http://sqex.to/Cz9

I recently had several friends lose their houses with no emails sent to them. It's definitely a problem.

How many is several to you? Cause it was really that big of problem about email not being sent out and everyone losing their house I would imagine there be lot more threads on the forums about it. Cause there already plenty of threads of people not like the timer to begin with.

They may have been filtered into spam. Unless your friends registered with an email they don't use often. Since they're sent to the address your SE account is under. Some of SE's emails make their way into my spam folder some time though.

Would be nice to have something for FC rooms. I suppose it's different if you're being kicked out, because I know if you go to leave an FC on your own terms, it requires you to demolish your private chambers first. At least they replaced most of your items, but that still really sucks. Did you check the Housing Merchant to see if they had any of your stuff? I know they hold housing items for 30 days if an estate is auto-demolished. Not sure about FC room items though.

Can confirm that furnishings from FC rooms will show up at the NPC. I got kicked once when my old FC had a chance to nab a mansion, and I wasn't online to demolish my own room. Sure enough, everything that wasn't destroyed on pickup was waiting for me at the NPC.
