    MAN THE CANNONS!

So I just got out of a terrible experience with a DRK, MNK, and MCH in Stone Vigil. I would honestly say it's mostly for MCH fault for mainly doing just Spread Shot and Lead Shot on two or less enemies (even insulting my MCH skills by saying I need to do more math?). We get to the second boss, and nobody is keeping an eye on the cannons. I'm trying to keep everyone alive, but nope. We wiped and everyone bailed instead of trying to improve. So I want to ask everyone here; who should be in charge of the cannons? The WHM or a ranged DPS?

In my experience, its always the healer that watches the cannons. Its rare to see a tank be squishy enough that you can't take your attention off of them for a few moments at a time (I normally keep track via the party list rather than actually looking over at them). I'd say it doesn't matter if you like to DPS as a healer or not at that point.

In Stone Vigil hard? Everyone should take a cannon. 4 cannons for 4 players. The boss can literally only be harmed with those cannons. Keep an eye out for his aoe, one of the cannon skills can be used to stun. If you see him rotating in your direction, drop the cannon and get the hell out of the way. As healer, stay on cannon until someone needs healing, drop it, go heal them and get back to shooting.

Nope. Stone Vigil normal. Problem is, the DRK was pretty squishy

Yeah, I would say the tank was squishy. Was barely able to keep up

I also say healer as everytime im done stone vigil as a healer I have done the cannons. Plus if you want the fight to finish faster, all dps 100% focus on boss.

In Stone Vigil regular, the healer tends to man cannons between HoTs/DoTs. If there's someone with even less opportunity cost, though, such as a Summoner, then they should do it between their DoTs. As there was only a MCH available among ranged, you were the best candidate. That said, should party health start plummeting for any reason, the MCH should have swapped off to tend to the cannons.

In Stone Vigil regular, with the tortoise boss, all should be on cannons all the time. You can HoT before the tortoise lands, but after that you should be able to finish the fight without a single heal.

Back at 2.0, when gear didnt sync up, and most people were undergeared, I wasnt able to do it as a healer, and it was commonly the ranged DPS job. (even had melee do it, when we lacked range)

But in 2.1 (i think it was 2.1) updates, and people being geared up, it was plenty easy to do it as a healer, and I never questioned it since.

But its possible to encounter a tank who's squishy still
