I am not playing, because this is a big time for me at work. I for one am actually excited about the new combat system in 1.20, and I think that is something that if done well will be a big incentive to continue playing for a lot of people. I am really looking forward to seeing what is possible with the new systems. Hopefully the moogle fight highlights those possibilities well (rather than be some gimicky hoop jump like Ifrit).


I think anyone who doesn't understand that 1.20-up until 2.0 is not where the team's best work is going, is out of touch. There wouldn't be a need for a 2.0 if it this period was some kind of indicator of the level of quality to expect in 2.0. This period is just there for people to continue to play, to get a limited peak into some of the new dev teams' ideas in action, and to enjoy a few distractions (primals, the dungeons in 1.21, crystal tower, legatus fight, 7th umbral events) which hopefully are enjoyable. Ifrit and the strongholds were more fun than darkhold, and they promise Moogles will be better.

Hopefully they continue that trend, I'd like more content such as NM's now so I had more to do, but in my opinion the direction of the game is the main reason why most people who are staying are going to be willing to pay. Not simply because of "moogles", and so other games unless they are promising a similar experience to what is being promised and shown here isn't going to change that.

They aren't, FFXIV still is and that's why a lot of us play at least on Selbina which the times I have logged on these last two weeks was far from empty. I'm sorry to hear about Wutai's population problem though, but it's not the first time I've heard that about the server. Picking the right server at launch was a very fortunate decision that I think really has made this game much more enjoyable for me.

Well, i cant really say i picked the wrong server.

So many nice players on my server and Wutai was loaded at launch,
up until 1-2 months before Dzemael Darkhold patch. (forgot wich)

But it seems most of the people thats been around since launch now have just given up or taking major breaks.
(And oh yes...i keep track of most of the "Famed" names on my server.)

I understand completely with the OP. I can't even say that I'm bored of Ifrit battle, because I haven't even made it there yet. My Husband and I have both put this game on hold because of the coming class changes. Gaining Spells and Skills are usually our main drive as far as goals. SE's vague list of what spells and skills are coming was rather disappointing because it seemed like it was very thrown together. It doesn't inspire confidence with nothing actually named, and a message saying:
* The list is sorted by category, and not the order in which the actions are learned.
For us this means there isn't really anything to plan for right now. Its not about getting to 50 quick for us, so we are just sitting in limbo waiting on SE so we can decide if we are going to continue or not.

Its frustrating because I so wish I knew the answer of what would make it better, but right now its almost like I like the idea of this game more than I like the game..

Hopefully 1.20 will come and will make enough things right that people will be excited again.

Like you said Wutai lost its population a long time ago so your thread isn't really breaking news that one of the lower pop servers still has a lower population. Many of the first, and most frequent starters of threads begging for server transfers have been from Wutai people.

The only other thing i will say is dont judge the population size at the moment, there is way too many excuses to not play this game and a lot of people are using them at the moment. Thats all good and I am not going to knock anyone for doing that but the true outcome of this game will not be known until after 2.0 launches and the free trial is over. Any rise or fail in population from here to then is of no concern, yes it will have some impact on final player numbers due to people burning out and quitting or from word of mouth from past, present players to future ones.

I hope it actually gives the developers some insight on how the
players are actually experiencing the game right now.

I think we want the game to succeed as much as the developers do,
but we cant do more than suggest ideas (and we have..),

And im sure some of us would go even farther considering the
"rumors" of modable UI etc, but it feels like we run out of ideas.

And someone has to deliver....

I just haven't logged on cause um real life and holiday.

Most folks are also in Finals week, college kids are heading home for winter break etc. I'm not a college kid but after finals when I was in college the first thing I wanted to do when I got home was get together with friends and not play a video game.

We'll return...I'm returning...I just was a little burnt out playing so much.

I had too much fun now I need a break...that and I caught the mother of all colds.

I don't necessarily agree with the whole Wutai is a low pop server that everyone wants to leave. I've never had problems getting a group to go and successfully do Ifrit or anything...there's always plenty of players to do stuff with.

Players either because it's so easy to max out your levels now are waiting for new stuffs to do...or they don't want to play much cause all the class changes coming and they want to experience that.

My only realization is because I'm used to playing on a Role Playing server and um how people act and treat each other is vastly different in a regular server vs an RP server. So, I do have reservations and desire to be with the RP crowd and would consider moving to another server for that.

I don't know that I can move to another server when I've become tight with many people on the current server.
