Yup, at some point it's with the player. Lots of single player games let you change settings in order to better suit your needs. When I played Civ 6, I thought the idea of barbarians swarming you as early as turn 5 was ridiculous (If something like that happens to you on higher difficulties of the game then you might as well just restart because you'll never catch up to the AI) It happened to me a few times and I had to restart. You know what I did? I turned the barbarians off.

You can't do things like that in a MMO. It's not just you playing the game. At some point you just have to suck it up.
