As so many have already chastized the OP for, we can't really compare from other MMOs, but to give my answer anyway:What dps classes did people who hate the dps classes in this game play in other games if they think ffxiv dps is boring or simple or all the same? I'm not even trying to take a side in the argument, I'm simply curious. If possible, I'd be interested to know specific expansions as well.
DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) was a good case for me on dps classes being sorely different at their core. Monks had flurry of blows and style strikes (If you know Dungeons and Dragons as a table top, you know where I'm geting at) There were 50+ feats to take that made finding someone exactly like your build impossible. Granted, there were popular feats, but not the same everywhere. Weapons and armor were so diverse that I am absolutely confident in saying it is impossible to find someone wearing the exact same thing as you...unless you sat down and made it happen.
This isn't even the same Genre...but Planetside 2. The glaring problem here is that the better guns require pay to play (Pay to win) but if you have the money to drop, you can completely build your gear set to be unique, and still viable.
Path of Exile. Have you seen the skill tree list? Google it.
The Secret World. To explain in two words: Classless system. To elaborate: You can literally build anything, in to any skill, at any time. The game had 'decks' to suggest 'tank type' classes or 'healing type' classes...but you did not have to follow them 100% your choice.
These choices alone kind of make FFXIV's cookie cutter classes look like shit (cause it is exactly that...shit)
I mean hell..remember FFXI? That game had more diversity in classes than this game does...AND the choice of equipment varied to the point that people swapped out what they wore between fights to optimize mana regen, and shit.
