Lol then must be a caster thing, SE like to mess with usEvery single time I press Dreadwyrm trance it is 100% guaranteed that at that moment the boss is going to stop throwing shit at the leylined blm and start throwing shit at me, or two seconds later a melee dps is going to go "Eh fuck it lets mash the limit break now" and kick the boss into an invuln phase. Or I'm going to be the victim of droppy orbs in DS.
Well, I like positionals and how each dps is different in keeping up good damage. It makes dps use their brains rather than randomly smashing buttons mindlessly.
"BAAAAAARD!" - 2018
So, just tank, heal, or play a different game? They're not going to rework the combat from the ground up, so hoping that the job will be different is futile. EVERY job has cooldowns, EVERY job has oGCDs, and EVERY (melee) job has positionals to one degree or another.all ranged dps are weenie hut jrs so that's off the table, dragoon makes me want to drink bleach with all 50 of it's ridiculous pos reqs that are impossible when your df tank is playing dance dance revolution with all the enemy mobs, monk would be great if greased lightning wasn't an annoying mechanic to deal with and Ninja is the closest thing to a decent dps class in this game but even still it is plagued by the same crap...
Why is trick attack an ability that requires positioning? Guess what, the tank turned. Now your burst cd is on cd and you didn't even get to use it for anything. Pisses me right off.
please tell me Samurai will be better. =\
To hear someone who complains about how hard it is to remember to use kiss of the wasp/viper at the start of a dungeon also say ranged dps is "too easy" maybe you should settle on the easier side... if one button gives you a headache I'd love to see your eyes bleed trying to pull off maximizing a ranged dps.
Like... lol.
Maybe the only button you should strive to remember is Uninstall.
Range dps being easier is a meme passed from other games. It's used to be true and sometimes still is in other games.
It's definitely not true in FFXIV. It's pretty much the opposite fight design-wise. I main MNK, but MCH is my second right now. Not comparing actual rotations, you definitely get more opportunity to focus the boss and not deal with some mechanics as a melee. Comparing rotations themselves never ends well because people find different things difficult. I think most would say MCH is harder than MNK though.
So if you're playing melee to feed some superiority complex, this isn't the game. You're better off channeling that energy into remembering to put on poisons once before the battle starts.
OP, It's okay to have opinions but you don't need to justify them by putting other things or people down. You're clearly still working on mastering the base mechanics of playing melee, complaining about the challenge and unforgiving nature of those mechanics while making some point that you play melee cause ranged are for noobs who take the easy way out.
You're either trolling or completely oblivious to the irony in your positions.
By design, ranged DPS do not deal with mechanics as much.:thinking:i mean that's what happens when you play a mobile ranged dps class because you are better suited to deal with things than many other classes and it comes at little to no expense of the raid
spooky got a point here xD
even though he's not aware about the fact that all range dds got cutted very hard in mobility with their HW toolkits - so just forgive him for that : O
The idea that ranged would have less mechanics to worry about in this game becomes even more hilarious when you realize that the single mechanic in ff14 that ranged are completely uneffected by, point blank aoes, are the counterpart to donut aoes, which melee aren't affected by, and most enemies that have one also have the other.
Never in my life did I think I'd ever get to see someone complaining about positional requirements, and their specific focus would be Dragoon of all things.
Here's a quick tip when having issues with tanks playing sprinkler with a boss: "can you stop spinning the boss, please".
