Getting a Chocobo

I sincerely hope I placed this in the correct section, I am sorry if I haven't. But, I am asking about how to get a Chocobo. The Square Enix Team gave me one via a letter or something, but I don't get how to access the Chocobo.

After joining a Grand Company (this happens fairly early in the main scenario), you can find a quest in the headquarters of your grand comopany, which gives you a chocobo whistle when you complete it. Use that whistle to unlock the chocobo mount, and the ability to use other mounts as well.

You need to get the permit using with GC seals. To get the companion you must be min lvl 30 and complete the quest My feisty Chocobo.

My Little Chocobo is a level 20 side quest for your Grand Company. It is what unlocks the ability to use mounts, including the Chocobo you got in your mail.

My Feisty Little Chocobo is a level 30 side quest that lets you bring that chocobo out as a battle companion.

You have to "use" the item they sent you, by selecting it and choosing "use." And then if you're able to call mounts, you can access your Mount Guide through the main menu. (options button on ps4, NUM+ on keyboard) As others have said, you first have to do the side quest to unlock riding mounts if you haven't. Hope this helps.
