Raubahn and the Sultana — how does it make sense? [mild spoilers]

Now I know this isn't directly told in the game but it is strongly suggested that Raubahn and the Sultana are actually lovers.

Obviously they're in a good and healthy loving relationship. Raubahn is willing to sacrifice himself for Nanamo and Nanamo strongly cares about Raubahn.

But even the strongest love in the world has to land on a reality check. How does it make sense practically? How do they have children? We know they have to continue the Ul Namo line so I'm concerned they're physically unable to have children. Or is this why Nanamo wanted to abdicate?

Edit: Please stop writing dirty things.... ewwwww. I was wondering if Highlander genes and Lalafellin genes can mix to create a baby, and if so what it'd be like. We've seen NO mixed race Hyur/Lalafell character yet so it wouldn't be too hard to entertain the idea that maybe it's genetically impossible.

Now thinking seriously there are ways they could produce a child without actually having intercourse. We even have the means to do so IRL let alone a world filled with magic and magitech.

Hmmmm Did you see their back story on How Rubahn became the Bull General? May shed some light to your question I don't want to spoil it for you. If you go trough the main story you should see what their relationship is like and how it's seen. Some Side quest will fill some bits and pieces as well.

I wouldn't really say they are lovers. Raubahn is just the only syndicate member who is truly loyal to the sultana.
As for children, Raubahn has an adopted lalafellian son.

Nanamo's reason for wanting to abdicate is because she was in favour of democratic rule, nothing as selfish as wanting to elope.

You really want to float this silly idea that says that someone prepared to sacrifice themselves has to have a romantic attachment to someone else?

Also, 'strongly cares' is COMPASSION which per se does not require a romantic attachment either.

This dude is oblivious to the story in this game, his lore knowledge begins and ends with chocobos. But, i guess thats what you get by clicking through dialogue so fast, you miss the answer to your own question..........sad.

Could be trolling, but I don't see anything "incendiary" about it. The closest I could find to that in this topic is your personal attack on his character.

On the children aspect - they don't. Half-breeds are rare as it is even between better matches like Hyur and Elezen.

That said, you're confusing a more father-like love that Raubahn for something romantic, which isn't the case (it's not even vaguely suggested they are romantic lovers, much less "strongly suggested"). He does care for her, deeply, but it's as a protector and father, not as a lover.

Besides, she's only 21 - she has plenty of time to find a Lalafel suitor and have children if she wants to make sure her royal line continues. Her reasons for wanting to abdicate have nothing to do with having children (or not) - the MSQ made it abundantly clear why she planned to abdicate the throne.

This topic (the OP's topic) has come up on our fc discord in late night nonsense..... We have a word we use that answers this question of love between the valiant General and the gentle Sultana.
