It seems pointless to me to put this in since we can see what the items are currently going for. It seems like this was put in just as an attempt to copy FFXI imo. It worked for FFXI because we couldn't see the prices of the items. I'd like some input from others as to what this will help with.

I guess its for when an item is sold out and you don't know what a fair price is.

It's also very useful in situations like this:
Ooh, Iron Harness is only 9k.. that looks good. Oh wait, I wonder how much an Iron Harness +1, maybe I can... ooh.. it's sold and .. it went for 150k... never mind >.>;

sales history is much different then what people post as prices

especialy on items that are "overpriced" on the market

say something suauly sells for 5k, but the only ones for sale are 20k+, big chance all the ones up havent sold in a long time so knowing that is a good thing as that isnt the current value of the item
however if you see some up for 6k...even with them going for 5k it may be still worth buying as that could just be inflation on the price
