Cross server friends list and /tell system

I just met a friend through a duty finder - its very sad that i cannot had him to my friends list because we chose different servers - I'm on hyerion and he's on Behemoth. I know theres party finder end game but what about us new players who have yet to reached end game yet? I think it'd be much for fun even though he can't help me because we're on different servers that we could at least add each other and talk to each other. Maybe even have linkshells cross server in a way so we can add all our friends to it (not FC's i understand thats not even remotely possible)

I really think this would help bring the community together more and keep more people playing.

Party finder is not limited to end game. It unlocks for you right after the firat dungeon, around level 15. Through it you can form private or public cross server party. For private parties you set up short passcode the other person(s) joining will need to input. You can very well use this to party up with your cross server friend just to get the party chat going on, and then decide what to run.

The cross-server PF is a good start, but making /tell and the Friends list cross server as well would make getting together with friends a lot easier.

The Friends list will let you know which of your friends are online. Sending them a /tell will let them know that you're online. Your chances of getting together are a lot better once those two pieces of information are established than just putting up a Party Finder announcement saying "Hey, so-and-so, if you happen to be online and just happen to come here and read through all the PF announcements to find this, then let's get together."

I believe they said this is coming in Stormblood, around patch 4.1. Don't quote me though. I can't remember when I heard it. I will try to look it up.

Closest thing I could find

We are also planning updates to the blacklist and friend list features; however, the friend list updates won't be available at the launch of Patch 3.5. We would like to add this in a future update. The player's World will now be displayed in the chat log, so even if players with the same name are in a party, you will be able to identify who is who.
