People seem to forget FFXI had AH fees, it was towards the merchant not the consumer but none the less...bitches gonna bitch.


The only problem I have with the implementation is that transaction history resets at maintenance, though I'm sure this is a server side issue that may be remedied in the future.

Those were taxes. They made sense. The current system is becoming increasingly complicated and confusing to explain, without any real advantage. Give us an up-front auction house, where we can buy/sell there, and have taxes happen ONCE. Problem solved. There's nothing good about the market wards. It was an idea that tanked and we're still suffering with.

Complicated and confusing?

If you're selling, you are imposed sales tax based on where you are selling.

If buying, you are imposed a very small convenience surcharge for not zoning into the wards. In order to not be priced higher than very cheap items, it is % based. In order to not discourage the use of the feature for very expensive items, it is capped at 4k.

Simple. Honestly, if you find this complicating don't even bother trying to lecture on economics.

Give us an up-front auction house, where we can buy/sell there, and have taxes happen ONCE. Problem solved. There's nothing good about the market wards. It was an idea that tanked and we're still suffering with.

2. That is a very lovely opinion you have there. Thanks for sharing. I'll share mine, too. I love the Market Wards system. I feel it can use some improvements - some of which we are seeing now. However, I would not like to have the system abolished in favor of a traditional AH.

This is a matter of opinion. While this addition of directly buying from Item Search allows a sort of pseudo-AH experience for enthusiasts of the traditional system, it also - ever delicately - encourages the use of the Wards themselves. A compromise that has the potential to satisfy both sides.

Not surprising, however, that the more passionate AH enthusiasts feel cheated by this compromise because apparently they feel ever entitled to an AH, and anything less is not justified.

Very nice. I also like our current system of the wards, and would hate to see it destroyed because of the crybabies who want everything spoon-fed to them.
