-Upgrading- Step by Step PS4 to PS4 PRO

Probably I'm not the first one to ask but im considering upgrading to a PlayStation 4 PRO before SB.

For some people might be a very easy straight forward but for people like myself I'm still concerned and confused as to how to do it. My worry is losing something in the process like macros data etc etc.

My question is HOW , step by step, do you move all you FXIV data from a PS4 to a PS4 pro? Are there any guides out there? Or if someone have some sort of knowledge or have done it before will help.

    Cheers

You can transfer with a usb cable from ps4 to pro, takes about an hour. There are a few video tutorials on youtube.

Alternatively, if you don't have both your PS4 and Pro available at the same time, back up your PS4 to an external hard drive and then restore your PS4 Pro from the back up when you first boot it up.

This is what I did as I sold my PS4 to the same store I bought the Pro from.

Back up (around 400 Gb storage used on my PS4) took roughly 5-6 hours. The restore on the pro only took around 2 hours.

In terms of step by step...

    Plug in external hard drive
    >system
    >Back up

    Get pro
    Plug in external hard drive
    >system
    >restore from back up

Everything will be exactly as you left it on your previous PS4

As has been said there are plenty of guides online how to do both the methods mentioned in the forum.

As for macros, hotbars, etc they are stored in your saved data files on the ps4 not within the application data, so these are what you want to ensure are transfered but I'm pretty certain both the mentioned methods do this automatically, only way you can mess it up is by not doing either of the suggested methods.

If you also don't have a large enough external drive available, I believe you can install on the Pro then copy both your FFXIV save data and your character save data files via a USB flash drive or PS+ save upload. The files are somewhere like Application Saved Data> Storage. I recommend saving backups of these files either way; it was a sad day when my character save data corrupted :/

I may be wrong but I believe you can only use the PS+ save upload method? You used to be able to transfer specific save files etc on ps3 via memory stick but I was under the impression they stopped this on ps4 to prevent hacked save files being downloaded from online and transfered on to console for trophies etc.

I was still doing it as of a month ago (or so) but some specific games have 'locked' files to prevent this which is really annoying as I hate running a full backup to keep them safe and don't want PS+. FFXIV doesn't seem to block it, though; I have my saves stored on a pen drive for emergencies.

I put lan cable and moved all the ps4 to ps4 pro. You do this from the settings. Faster that using hdd. If you plan getting rid of old ps4, delete the files. Takes like 10min. This suggestion is also nice to put all the old files on new ps4 too. Took less than 2 hours and half for me for over 600 gb worth of stuff. I would also consider sshd, ssd works but the fact it's slightly a difference there on the ps4, about 1-2 seconds.

If you have ps plus, you can just upload all of your game data, and download it to your PS4 pro when you install the game again.

    Thats what i did anyway.

If you're getting a Pro, you may also want to think about getting a SSD or a hybrid. It significantly reduces load times, especially changing zones. THats gonna be helpful during early access when a storm of people will be trying to log in at the same time lol.

This may hold true however SE are actually optimizing Stormblood for the PS4 Pro so load times may be even shorter possibly
I have always been cautious about reliability (or life) of ssd or hybrid.
