If you don't want to finish it, don't. There are other weapons in the game at around the same level, and the cap is going up soon anyway.
^This. I haven't even unlocked the quest (Rowena is still there in Idyllshire with the quest available icon above her head, and I ignore her every time I pass by), and have no intention on it either. I never got a Zeta relic either as I just don't have the patience to grind for such weapons which are ultimately fated to become just glamour gear anyway. And glamour wise I'm perfectly happy with my base relic regardless and that won't change. It's just easier to source a near-comparable weapon through other means and spare myself the mind numbing grinding (which is what I've done).

I know some people might just regard that as cutting off the nose to spite the face but I just can't be bothered with it.
