    Personal Loot

Ok so this might have been said and done before but since idk if it has i thought i see what's up with the the topic.
Why is everyone so against personal loot? ive seen the comments made by a lot of folks on forums and discord saying to keep the current way but wouldn't the system be better off with personal loot. I know come sb they say there's gonna be guaranteed loot at the end of the dungeon but why not for all bosses, not just the final boss.
Shoot if anything it should be a guaranteed loot from a boss and then rng for the other bosses. If RNG isn't on your side, then instead you'll be given tomes instead.

(That's what i think we should be heading towards imo)

Personally don't see a downside to it, unless you're the kind of person who gloats or likes to show off the new set cus you farmed the dungeon back to back 30 times at launch and got the full set out of luck.

I think it is somehow useless considering that dungeon loot in general is not important at all.
You only need to for catching up while leveling and in the first days of gearing up at max level. After that it is just for glamour purposes.

I think he means all loot. Raids, Primals, Dungeons, etc.

I don't think so, because he is reffering to more than one boss in one run. So it only applies to Dungeons and maybe 24-man 'Raids'. Therefore I stay with what I said, it is kinda useless if you see the loot system as a whole in this game.

Personal loot system is basically where the game does a internal roll (RNG) to determine if you get loot or not and if you do it gives you loot something your class can use. Stuff never drops to a pool but directly to players inventories if they win the internal RNG roll.

Works in a game like World of Warcraft where one character can only be one class but not in a game like Final Fantasy XIV because you can be every job on one character. For example say if you were farming Alex Savage now and you wanted to gear up your other alt jobs to 270 before Stormblood. With the current loot pool system stuff drops to a pool and can be greeded on for alt jobs. In a personal loot system lets say your main is a tank you are playing tank for all your farming runs and thus you always get tank gear with the personal loot system your tank is already geared up so you don't need tank gear. You would have to play your under-geared monk to get monk gear making beating savage fights much more difficult if not impossible if everyone was playing alt classes without good gear.

Actually some of the classes in wow can fill multiple roles (like paladin being tank, healer or dps), so it let's you select what role you want the dropped gear to be for. So it could work the same in ffxiv, you can play tank, but have monk selected for the gear you want.

Which could actually get more people playing their tanks/healers for the fast queues if they knew they could guarantee drops for their dps job, without being on that job.

Well, personal loot is the state of the art standard for random parties. It culls all issues and quarrels with loot distribution at the root.

In premade parties, you'll usually have already set-up the loot distribution in advance and agreed upon by the members, so personal loot can hinder the efficient distribution - If you want to equip your statics monk, it doesn't suffice to just have monk weapon drop, it needs to drop on him. That can be circumvented by allowing limited trading of items, but knowing the devs, there would be "limitations" preventing that.

As for why people are against it: Many people simply want to greed/need on everything and abuse the fact many others aren't as greedy/needy. The current system benefits them, personal loot would reduce their overall loot. It's only natural people are against something that hurts their benefits.

They use 95% the same gear because it changes to suit your spec (str will change to int if you swap form dps to healer for example) only thing that are unique to a spec are trinkets. I don't think they could do that in Final Fantasy 14 there would be no good way to make say a set of tank gear transform to healing gear when you switch to healer. Probably require a lot of item overhaul.

Q51: In Heavensward, players were able to increase their item level through main scenario quest rewards, but will players be able to increase their item level in the same way in Stormblood?

A51: Similar to 3.0, players will be able to obtain gear through main scenario and side story quests. With 3.0 dungeons, there were times where gear for the role you wanted didn’t drop, or you may have lost the loot to other adventurers, so your item level may have increased slower due to these reasons. For these reasons, with the 4.0 dungeons, we made it so players can obtain the gear for their role after defeating the last boss in that dungeon.
