    GPU issue concerning the benchmark

i play on a laptop that has 2 gpu's. One that is part of the original laptop (Intel HD graphics 4600) and an extra one (AMD firepro W4170M (fireGl V)). When running the benchmark i recieved a low score (around 1000), so i started fiddling with the settings. interestingly, even though the list of components during the benchmark lists my AMD card, the settings menu (specifically the main display setting) only sees my Intel card. My question is thus: is my benchmark being run on my Intel card, while in some way or another the benchmark knows i have a better one and, if so, how do i make it recognize my AMD card?

As I understand it, with the laptops with two graphics cards it only presents the basic Intel card to things unless it knows to do otherwise (probably to make sure that the application in question doesn't use the more powerful/more battery hungry one by mistake. So basically in this case the benchmark program doesn't even get to see the other GPU so you can't select it.

Your GPU software likely has a (constantly updating?) list of applications it knows should use the more powerful card, but in this case it doesn't yet have any knowledge of the benchmark application to offer it the other graphics card. You'd likely need to go into the GPU/AMD software and look for an option to add the benchmark application as using the other card or possibly when you run the application you can right-click (instead of double left-click) and there may be an option on that menu to force onto the other GPU (I've seen that option on a few machines).

You can also disable the iGPU through the BIOS so it doesn't annoy you anymore in the future. But you have a 4xxx intel CPU there means you can actually use your iGPU for streaming at low performances cost by using Quick Sync, so yes, can still be useful if you planning to do that.
