Returning player, could use some help with game configs

Hey everyone! Been away since 3.3 and trying to get my game controls setup, in my case looking to tweak camera.

So to be specific what I would like to have if I can. is I want to be able to swing/move my camera view by holding my right mouse button but in a way that while I am moving my camera will stay in view of the back while I move forward. So basically my camera will not auto adjust while running/ moving.

Reading this I'm not sure I am making sense, been a long day!

Thanks for taking your time in reading my thread!

Have you tried playing with Legacy movement?

Standard: "Forward" moves you in the direction your character is facing. Camera swings behind you whenever you move.

Legacy: "Forward" moves you in the direction your camera is facing. Camera stays mostly where you left it, except when affected by walls and other obstacles.

    /characterconfig
Control Settings (red and gold four-way arrow button)
    [General] tab
Movement Settings: Standard Type (Character-based) or Legacy Type (Camera-based)

I also approve of legacy because when you push down on the controller, you'll quickly turn around and RUN away. In standard controls you remain facing them and SLOWLY backpedal away, making it much harder to dodge AoE.

Hey thanks for the replies guys. I use Legacy cameras, I enjoy it much better than standard.

But what I would like to have is, say I am running straight, and I swing my camera view to the back, to look whats behind me, i.e mobs/players following me, I would rather the camera not auto adjust on me. Id like to continue the view from the back. Because it seems by default If I am going in a certain direction the camera will automatically adjust. Like I said in my OP, may not really be an option in this game

I'm pretty sure there is a keybind for looking behind you. I can't remember where or what it is though, would need to read through the keybind lists for that. When pressing that button down, your camera shows you what's behind of you, while you still keep running to the way you were. For the situation you described, I'd imagine that might be working solution, even if not exactly the one you asked. Also, while using legacy settings, if you put auto-run on, also a keybind though I don't remember default since i have bound it to mouse wheel, you can right click rotate your camera without it affecting your character moving direction. (Not entirely sure of the latter one)

The default keyboard setting for look behind you is "V".

Use the left mouse button instead of the right.

Strange thing about that, thats how I normally do it in other games but least for my settings if I use the left mouse it actually turns my character, I will need to change my keybinds a bit when I can get on
