How does the game define "Earth Time"?

Considering the servers aren't designated with a certain time zone, but rather an entire region, "Earth Time" is an extremely vague term that could mean any of a number of time points.

To give an example using the trigger for this thread's creation, Amphelice in Idyllshire (the weekly repeatable Singing Cluster x18 quest giver) shows as such:

I'm on the Siren server, which is on the Aether datacenter. This datacenter is located up in Montreal (Canada), but it services the entire North American region.

Which of the six time zones in North America is this server referencing with "Earth Time"? It could be any of UTC-9, UTC-8, UTC-7, UTC-6, UTC-5, or UTC-4. Further complicating this, if I check server time it shows 5:45 AM when it's actually 12:45 AM where it's located, so the server isn't even observing its own time.

This is something that should have been picked up during the localization process. Unlike Japan, which only has a single time zone, other regions of the world can have a great many. Clearly defining metrics like this is important.

Usually, if the game tells you a time, its for YOUR timezone. Weekly Resets are 1am PST.

What ever your computer clock is set on / ps4/ whatever, it adjusts to that, same with any in game timer. wedding invites are the same way, the person trading to you will have a different time stamp on it then what you see on it (unless you are both in the same time zone)

TBH I thought that was obvious.

Earth Time is Local Time, as opposed to Server Time and Eorzean Time. I've had it not account for Daylight Savings though (but that might be because my state in Australia changed the week it changes a couple of years ago).

It is whatever your computer/ps4 whatever does, it does not "not account" for anything.

Not actually how that works, otherwise I could just go in and change my computer's clock and have the resets happen whenever I wanted.

It will display the time reset happens as whatever the time would be as set on your device. If you have it set off, the game will still account for that.

0100 PDT -- this is an important distinction.

Weekly resets for non crafting/gathering activities are Tuesday, 0000 (midnight) PST, always.

    Dear OP, type
    /timers

General weekly reset is listed as "Challenge Deadline" using your system's local time. Tuesday, 0000 PST, or 1700 JST.
Crafting/gathering weekly content is listed as "Custom Deliveries": Thursday, 0000 PST, 1700 JST (same time as general weekly reset, but two days later).

General daily reset is not listed, but is most easily remembered as "JP Midnight": 0700 PST, 0000 JST.
Crafting/gathering dailies (turn-in lists for GC, Ixal, collectibles) are listed as "[GC crest] Next Mission Allowance" and "Rowena's House of Splendors": 1200 PST, 0500 JST.

Adjust for daylight time as necessary. Remembering the standard times will be safer -- if you forget to account for the hour difference, oh well, you have an extra hour to cap. If you learn the daylight times instead, when we're no longer on daylight time, resets will happen when you think you still have an hour left.
