I have reworked and finished my entry as such this video link is no longer available.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoIG9AFA1mw
here's a rough cut of my entry. I think I did a fairly good job, but with how quiet everything else is it feels very uncomfortable.
I know with screenshot contests in the past, you could have more than, say, 3 people in the screenshot in the image but only 3 people could take credit for it as far as getting credit and receiving rewards. Is it the same here, where we could have more than 3 people involved but only 3 people would be able to receive the in-game rewards? Or is there a hard limit of 3 people who can write/ voice act in this contest?
Also, regarding the "verbatim" requirement for the serious category, the Warrior of Light doesn't talk much (or at all), in the in-game script. Does this mean "stick to the in-game script verbatim for the characters who actually speak, but add whatever you think your character might say to it"? If we aren't working with collaborators, are we allowed to use the original game audio but then edit in our own dialogue for our character? Or do we have to re-dub the entire scene?
For serious entries following the script, some cutscenes have the Warrior of Light's name spoken. Do we just not speak it? Or use our own character name? Or a stand-in like 'Warrior of Light?'
Pretty sure they're super strict on the Serious category to voice only what is said. Also, regarding the "verbatim" requirement for the serious category, the Warrior of Light doesn't talk much (or at all), in the in-game script. Were technology advanced enough that anyone's character's name could be pronounced, I'm sure the XIV team would pounce on it in a heartbeat, so I would say go for it and say your name. Your own unique personality is usually the #1 thing an actual VA casting director is looking for anyway.![]()
If I, who live in the US and have a North American Square Enix account, wanted to dub a cutscene along with someone who had a North American Square Enix account, but they did not live in North America, would the entry still be considered? The entry itself would be posted by me.
For what it's worth, you can look at the previous contest winners to get some idea of what they're looking for. I don't have a link, and am too lazy to google it, but you can probably find it if you try. In my dim recollection, however, I believe all three winning entries for serious not only voiced all the dialog, but had different people voicing each character. I can't remember if there was any foley (grunts and groans and whatnot).
For some reason, it is not allowing me to edit this post I just wrote. Anyway, also wanted to say:For what it's worth, you can look at the previous contest winners to get some idea of what they're looking for. Honestly, the answer to many of the questions being asked here - is "whatever you think will impress the judges". There's really no right or wrong answer, except to put on the best show you can manage, and hope the judges like it.
Is digitally altering your own voice okay if voicing multiple characters?

Pardon the multiple posts, but here is a WIP of part of my entry. We managed to get Aymeric and Nanamo's VO tracks recorded and arranged in a few hours. Originally intended for a friend of mine, but I'm proud of the voice work so far.
It is not, by any means, finished and lacks Thancred's vocal track entirely as the person who is potentially voicing Thancred lives in Australia and not the US. The music is not properly mixed as I need our Thancred to record before using a screen capture program. This translated to a very quiet music track in this particular recording.
Anotehr Question, Can we have friends who don't play join the contest as well or is it Exclusively for Players?
