Hotkey help? Blm

Hello everyone. I usually play the healer. though having pretty much maxed out that area I wanted to take DPSing back up... That being said I'm dreadful at it. Early game was easy enough. cast spell use procs ect. but with enochain I've been kind of bamboozled. And I've been told (many times) that I suck.

So I wanted to start over and hopefully get someone to help me relearn my role as a blm and how to get on without using Macros. They were fine early game but they cause too many problems later game.

This is my current set up

It looks like from your screen shot that you have hot keys for the lower two rows but not for your top row, so I don't know how applicable my set up will be for you.

I have all three of my bars hotkeyed to numbers, ctrl+numbers and alt+numbers.

Blizzard 1, 4 and 3 are my 1 key. 1, ctrl+1 and alt+1 respectively.

Same format for Fire spells. 2, ctrl+2 and alt+2

Then things start to get a little more abstract and organic. thunder 1 and thunder three are 3 and ctrl+3 and flare is alt+3.

Then we start getting to the utility abilities in the 4 keys.

Flare and Fire 2 are both adjacent to transpose mainly because the only time I use transpose these days is for AOE casting, (or if i've really messed something up.)

More utilities with the 5 keys, raging strikes, quelling strikes and convert.

Then instead of using 6 I have everything in the 6 range hotkeyed to `

The order of my ` set is a little wonky because they were more of an organic replacement of other abilities at 60 rather than a thoughtful layout. I've learned to be used to it, but if I was telling someone else to use it I would probably have enochian at ` sharcast at ctrl+` and leylines at alt+` based on where my fingers are when I activate those abilities.

Here's a video of me hitting a dummy. I mess up a bit at the very start, which is why you see me squeezing enochian and raging strikes between two spells rather than one inbetween other casts, and my spell speed is waaaaay low in this video, hence the reliance on swiftcast to squeeze blizzard 4 in a couple of times, and why I don't use leylines again as soon as it's up, (it messes with the timing for the second convert/raging strikes if I try to use it the extra time.)

Unfortunately we would need to see your form with Enochain to really say if its "right" or not. If you're looking for suggestions of key placement though...



I have a mouse that I configured the side button to act as CTRL so it helps me to know if I am holding shift, its Blizzard. Side is Thunder and nothing is Fire. Thunder 3 is my only macro aside from Virus (which is just a call out) but I have it set so if I am level sync'd it will use Thunder 2 if Thunder 3 isn't available.

Dont have a screenshot, but my layout is similar to Ferths. Blizzard 1/3/4 on a key(though i have ctrl and alt backwards from what he has), Fire on the next key(same), then thunder. Ive got my aoe spells next to each other, but seperate from the single target spells by a couple keys. Ive got my buffs in 2 sets(sorted by how often theyre used and how long the recharge is), and the rest are just kinda where they make sense to me(aeth manip near sprint, the shields near each other and apoc, etc).

So in casting rhythm, my layout boils down to C2(Fire 3), A2(Fire 4), A2, A2, 2(Fire) -(repeat til low mana)- C1(Bliz 3), 3(Thun 1 - thundercloud procs would be C3 for Thun 3) A1(Bliz 4), C2 etc. You can always practice on a dummy til you have the buff timings and muscle memory down. It cant help you learn the fights or movements, but if you can do the casting part without thinking then the rest is easy enough to pick up.

From a gear perspective, your accuracy is way too high, and your spell speed is way too low. Which is understandable as we can clearly see you are in the middle of gearing up. The sub 800 ss in the 230 set/sub 1000 ss in a current 260/270 set will make it difficult to perform under enochain effectively.

You have about 130 more acc then you need for a12s even without the second ring equiped.
