Friend can't patch the game

Been trying to get a friend to play this game with me, but he's having some issues getting the game to run. He has the Launcher installed and when it goes to patch he gets a pop up message with a bunch of error codes.

He said he's Googled solutions and tried a bunch (though I'm not sure what the specific ones are, sorry) and nothing's worked.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes and no, when it comes to the errors the launcher throws out frequently, it's kinda playing Russian roulette lol. But anyways, sometimes it helps turning off anti virus as well as firewall, especially if he's on older windows systems. Or at least double check if the launcher is allowed access in both AV and FW. Other thing could be, that he doesn't run the launcher as admin, again depending on his OS it could interfere when not doing that. If all that doesn't help, take a look at VPN's and re download the patches.

I'll relay the VPN option to him, but would welcome any other options if anyone else has any ideas ._.
