The Dream is Dead.

The removal of ranked would be a start.
hwhats?
The Dream is Dead.
nothing atm.
i don't think we will have directly new pvp.
about the ranked mode, it will certainly not be removed, why anyway ?
but i hope matchmaking and others things will be adjusted.
Esport or Blame the healer turbo alpha + that is the question.

Multiple reasons but I'll focus on the most prevalent. Ranked PvP in MMORPGs is a horrible concept, it doesn't work because there are simply too many job/ability combinations to actually get a proper balance going, as opposed to MOBAs where you more or less know how every champ looks at 30 with the best items; this is why despite the amount of compositions that can be put together in games like League, it is often the Champions that are considered too strong in general, than an entire composition being ridiculous; hence why not everyone just plays Wombo Combo at world despite it having outrageous CC.
The JP DCs have the most active ladders, and even then there is a long waiting time to get games, and each party is a roulette. In the West, it's worse, one bad player can essentially shut down queues for the night and on DCs like Chaos and Aether, this is on a daily basis. It's not that player's fault, but the game will try to match 2 plats 2 silvers vs the same. However if their Healer is Platinum. and you've been landed with the Silver one, you have pretty much already lost. You can end one day +200 or finish it -200 depending on who you got. Once you are gold, you can get matched with Diamonds who lose far more rating than you do per a loss. Given how easy Silver is to get out of, the amount of players that don't know what they're doing is extreme and is another reason why queues are so long and die outside of peak times - because why would you want to risk that? Simply saying to make MMR more balanced is not a viable strategy, it is clear the community as a majority is not interested in ranked PvP; so if you tried to make all the diamonds play each other, same with plats and so on, it'd be harder to find matches than it is now. On Chaos DC there are probably 7 active main healers in the whole DC that queue Plat+; because the game engine is incredibly unforgiving to healers and makes it something not fun to do. You can lustrate someone who dies anyway because the tick system prioritises damage first; if it was done the other way around then people wouldn't die.
3rd party software and wintrading is rife, which causes people to sit on their rank and then play an alt. People have argued for putting decay in the game but it wouldn't kill the better players just to win one game a week or even a day to keep their rating.
The community has however, shown an interest in PvPing if they are rewarded in some way outside of PvP (like tomes, mounts etc). I'm not a content developing genius; but this tells me the community is more likely to welcome more open casual options and approaches to PvP like more "battlegrounds", more arena maps, duelling areas and so forth that will reward you with PvE benefits (but not to the point where it's better to PvP than raid) than SE would benefit from simply beating the dead horse that is ranked.
The PvP UI as well as the macro system in the game is not fit for purpose in a competitive environment. Poor macro system and lack of enemy frames being just two things that for me personally, are the most annoying. Also remember that SE from knowledge does not have an eSports Programme Manager or a PvP experienced CM like for example, WoW does. So it's not that they don't care or listen to our feedback, they just don't know how to interpret it and improve on things moving forward.

raise of ilv cap would be a start. also giving 2 more points so we can use that 2foreverpointssitted jfc
There's a thread about Seize in the forums somewhere with a dev reply, it's looking like we will get a new map for the mode.

They will be talking about Stormblood pvp at a live letter before the release.
We know basic details at the moment. A new large-scale pvp type (not frontlines) not based on 3 teams / GC, and rebalancing pvp actions.

Yeah wait till close to E3 for new probably.
