    Well, different billing and shipping addresses... especially in different countries... your bank might block that under suspicion of fraud. It could be worth a try... use a bogus but plausible US address to register, then just order a digital code that will be emailed to you. But don't be surprised if it fails either...

    If you can manage to place the order on the US Amazon website, not the Canadian one, it will work. However, the US website blocks digital orders from Canadians by default... as you found out. Big_Panda is suggesting using a US address to get around that, I think.
