Now that I think about it, you may be into something. In heavensward, they " completed " each time toolkit with something for their downtime, how to improve their rotation or how to use unsued stacks. So logicaly, they'll continue the same with stormblood.
More often than not, you have to discard a card, because it's not a balance, royal road is already used, it's not a balance.
The lord and the lady might be a random ability acquired by discarding a card. Instead of canceling the buff, you can use your unused card for either a Heal ( the lady ) or a dmg spell ( the lord ).

So far liking these theories, either way the hype is real! So excited to see new abilities, curious what they may change up for our class there are abilities that people tend to not like that I actually do enjoy. Either way I love playing one of the most busy healers in the game.

I'm pretty certain this is Dawn Cross if the lore book is true to its word. Dawn Cross uses all six of the major arcana (hence why there are six cards facing the AST) and enhances them turning them into one of the minor arcana (which are split into two schools of magic, thaumaturgy and conjury). My theory is the Lord card represents thaumaturgy-damage while the Lady represents conjury-healing, which would make sense seeing how the AST used the Lord card on the enemy. Also conjury has a green connotation in this game and the Lady card was green as well.

Another cool thing to note is the description of the Dawn Cross according to the lore book. The first card drawn is placed face up and is known as the core. The second card is placed to the cores left and the third card is placed to the cores right. The fourth card is placed below the core and the fifth is placed below the fourth. The sixth card is placed above the core forming a cross. Now while the "core" can't be made out in the animation it still forms a cross as seen below.



My only question is if this is truly Dawn Cross then will we see other variants of the Pip Cards tied to the Lord and Lady? We know there are 3 Face Cards each with a direct tie to the 6 major arcana. That would mean, (assuming we're just getting Lord and Lady as face cards and not Knave) that we could see 12 new card effects in Stormblood tied to this one new ability. Anyway that's my theory on it. If it's not Dawn Cross I'll be genuinely surprised.
