Best way to gear up a lvl 60 crafter?

So I have my WVR up to 60 and want to know what the best way to gear myself up a bit would be? Right now I have the lvl 58 gear from Carved Kupo Nut trading and lower level jewelry.

Issues being I have basically no Gil (just over 800k) and suck at playing auctions for profit. It bugs me feeling under geared and want to have something decent together before Stormblood. Any tips? Advice?

Ask FC or friends who are crafters to help you.
You can do collectables and exchange tokens for gear but this will take weeks and requires you to spend gil.
When stormblood hits the gear will be replaced though.

Don't bother to be honest if anything just a basic HQ set melded + tools from red scrips and thats about it. At this point the gil you need to invest for a proper set is not worth it.

You can get the ilevel 180 gear fairly easily. You can use red scrips to upgrade pieces to ilevel 200. You won't be at IW levels since you can't meld that gear, but it will give you a decent boost to start off SB with.

Kinda agree, if we look at the transition from 2.0 to 3.0 only the tools were kept, gear was replaced rather quickly, Believe Lucis were the strongest tools you could obtain.

The Main tool for crafters had 97 control, 180 craftmanship. Hardsilver Saw, lv 55 was the first tool to be superior to the 2.0 tool being a 101/188 NQ with a 119/222 HQ.

As for gear. I believe Artisan's Apron was top tier body piece for crafter with 39/119 HQ con/craft. Secondary option form Artisan Gown 35/107 with 2 CP. But basically Holy Rainbow Coatee which was lv 53 had 44/137 or 51/161 if HQ so in terms of longevity, the gear didn't last very long.

If the effort is worth letting said gear last from 60-63 or 60-65, then go for it, but in all honesty you may be better off saving that gil for use in the expansion than preparing for it.

My advice is to get the i180 main and off-hand tools and either buy/craft a HQ i150 gear or grind blue scrips for the i180 gear. If you have more then 1 crafter at max level, I would just buy the i150 gear and place some materia on it, but since your only crafter is Weaver, I would just grind the blue scrips (will not take long) and get a full i180 set.

Another option is to get the Carbonweave, the mats are very cheap, if you have crafter friends, ask them to craft a HQ Carbonweave set, but like with the i150 set, its best to get this one if you have more then 1 crafter at max level.

Generally, there's a method here. People are right, top tier stuff is probably too pricy to be worth it, but you can work with this.

Main hands: the 180 stuff for scrips is good, but generally what I find I try to get are the Blessed tools from achievements. They're ilevel 200, don't cost any red scrips to get, and they sparkle! The downside is that you need to craft pretty much everything in your book for a given class to get one(Barring any recipes you get from a mastery book, dyes, PvP, etc. Housing items count, though!). But to me, as a person who loves crafting, I'd strive to fill my books out anyway.

Off-hands: This is where you use those red scrips. Getting ilevel 200 off-hands takes about 600 blue scrips and a level 60ish item(for the 180) and 650 red scrips(for 13 goblin cups to upgrade it to 200). So, you do want to cap red scrips weekly. The custom deliveries and Zhloe Aliapoh introduced recently make this much less of a slog than it was in early 3.x however, and even at the lowest levels you can usually get 300 red scrips out of Zhloe's weeklies with little to no problem.

Left side(Hat, gloves, etc): This is where you get to decide what you wanna spend money on. Ironworks is the best stuff, but depending on your server's economy or your connections to others, it can be out of your price range, and most likely is. If you need easy crafts that make a lot of money, you can always go for selling glamours- leatherworking ones tend to sell best for me, since you can't just buy the materials for those from NPCs directly like with most other crafts. However, your best bet at the moment is probably to do as others listed and get a level 60 allclass crafting set(fingerless gloves, chimerical felt doublet, etc. Ilevel 150 stuff. If you can afford it, ilevel 170 carbonweave is better, naturally), and overmeld them with grade 4 materia. Grade 4's gotten a lot cheaper than it used to be thanks to airship ventures and other proliferation into the economy, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Right side(Rings, bracelet, etc): Honestly, this part isn't as important. Generally, your right side will only give you CP by default, and you'd have to meld other stats on with materia. The difference in 2.x and 3.x accessory CP is relatively negligible at best, as well(HQ Ironworks Ring is +24 CP, whereas the humble HQ Aetheryte Ring is +17). Meld caps are also higher in 3.x gear of course, but the amount is negligible unless you really wanna get into crafting like, four star stuff. I'd upgrade these come stormblood, but for now you're probably fine just overmelding whatever you can get for cheap in these slots. THe only real exception here is the belt- it gives control, and a relatively hefty amount, so that's worth getting an ilevel 200 version as well, with red scrips.

Just my two cents, and the way I progress through 3.x crafting, given that I was very big in crafting in 2.x then got turned off by the early 3.0 script system to the point I didn't pick crafting back up until around 3.3-3.4. I find it to be the least expensive and most thorough method(Though, naturally, not the quickest, and people will probably want to hit me with sticks for neglecting CP as much as I do).
