Trouble installing FFXIV

Hi I am trying to install FFXIV onto a PC but it keeps coming up with the following error while installing from the DVD:

CRC error. The file I:\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\data\5B\20\00\00.DAT doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted contact your software vendor.

At first I thought it was a problem with my disc so I borrowed my friends copy and I still get the same error while trying to install.

Any idea whats wrong here and how to fix it so I can get this installed?

Sounds like your dvd drive is the culprite here, I've had the same issue. The drive seems to work fine, but the sustained read of the cab file(cab2) being 3.4gb, the drive just can't go for a sequential read that long. I can't even copy the contents over from the dvd to my computer because of it being unable to maintain a sustained read for an extended period.

I would try imaging it on another computer, creating an iso, then using something like clone drive to mount and install from the image,a nd see if that doesn't work.

Ok I will try to turn the DVD into an ISO file on another PC and see if that works, thanks for the info.
