Gosetsu is a roegadyn! (so many possibilities now)

So this is basically a new roegadyn clan...
Will we get new clans to use in the future?

Is he the only roegadyn at othard we'll see?

He looks too human to be a roegadyn for me.....
    But it's interesting/fun nonetheless

Thank you for asking/answering my question!!!

While I was surprised to learn that Gosetsu was a Roe (his facial features seem much closer to Hyur, so I assumed he was just an exceptionally burly Hyur), it may be too soon to postulate a new clan. The Live Letter says, "Rather than a Sea Wolf, he's closer to the Hellsguard tribe." This gives them plenty of space to simply say that Gosetsu and his people are immigrants/descended from the Hellsguard.

I dunno about new "playable" clans, but I think Gosetsu belonging to a new clan is definitely likely. Afterall, most of the clans available to us in character creation are those who have traveled to and created a presence in Eorzea. The lore book goes to great lengths to emphasize that there are other clans beyond what we can play.

Outside of Eorzea, Hyur can be found in Ilsabard in the north, Othard to the east, and even as far as the New World, their manifold clans and houses as innumerous as the stars in the night sky.

This includes Garlemald, where Roegadyn officers can be sighted wreaking havoc on the battlefield in the name of the Empire, having been assimilated under the Garlean yoke.

And I think the "closer to Hellsguard" thing might be cultural/aesthetical or simply saying that Gosetsu's tribe are mountainfolk. We probably won't know for a while. But they're likely not descended from the Hellsguardian people because that tribe isn't much older than the Duskwights.

As is often told, they came ashore on Vylbrand, and the city of Limsa Lominsa rose to prosperity not long thereafter. Many, many years prior to this, an entirely different group of Roegadyn had crossed over to the continent and settled in the mountains, where their descendants - the Hellsguard - reside to this day.

Honestly, if they had made him a Hyur, but used a Roe skeleton, it would of been more disapointing, since it would show a lack of creativity on the developers part to create an original character. Just look at Yugiri when she was introduced, she used a heavily edited Miqo'te skeleton. I knew he was a Roe, but the confirmation is nice.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

It's worth noting that there is an eastern tribe of Roegadyn - I don't have it on hand to quote directly, but the Encyclopedia notes that there's a branch of Roe native to Ilsabard (or neighbouring Garlemald, anyways), and I believe this is even where Rhitatyn hails from. It's always possible that Gosetsu is one of these.

Lore book also lists the Hyuran ninja npcs as from the Far Eastern clan. So, one would assume there are more than the two playable clans of each race.
