actually this... personally my coms go for player who know their job and give all they can effort, melees who aren't lazy enough to aoe in masspull until the edge, schs who micromanage or switch fairies manually etc. they don't have to rule the aggro bar or ilvl but they have to be motivated - someone who run his dailys after work being half past dead don't deserve a com tho. Generally you don't get coms for doing your job probably... mostly its for something ontop either a social connection like Rufa said or great/unexpected gameplay - you wouldn't com average in rl as well, would u? : /

Also many people just leave as soon as possible and give a shit about getting or spreading any coms at all ^^

I don't give out comms just for players showing up to content. I give comms to those that impress me with keeping the run going smooth and fast. I generally heal content and in 4 man it generally goes to the tank cause the dps df gives me rarely does anything above the bare minimum. In 8 person raid finder it is more often I find a dps or healer that stands out. Either way to get a comm, you have to go above and beyond average. In playing I get equal comms between my healers and my blm. I do tank on drk but that is a work in progress and I rarely get comms there. I sit somewhere around mid 4000 comms. I would also wonder since you ask for a thanks, do you talk in content? I say hi at the start of almost every run and thanks at the end all runs regardless of how the run went. I also take time to explain mechs to new players where helpful.

Whilst I'd be lying if I said the raw DPS numbers were anything other than unexceptional, it's been a while since I've done a roulette where I'd genuinely call it a train wreck. The last three experts I logged all have me at an 80% or higher cleric stance uptime across the entire run, so pretty clean sailing really.

Commendations are coming if a little slowly, I usually get 1 or more per expert for the most part.

I have over 4100 commendations and I usually either heal or tank, and I've long settled to the "don't care" anymore attitude.

You do a lot of DPS, maybe enough to surpass two DPS that aren't pulling their weight, however you won't get one because you probably "scared" the tank or the party HP by healing the bare minimum at-times, maybe even forcing them to actually their jobs better like using cooldowns. Like taking advantage of being able to use WHM Benediction while doing serious damage. The good players and raiders you run into will always thumbs-up this attitude though, they know what's going on. The bad players have no clue.

Clutch saves usually have your name attached to it, hard to miss.

Although standing around and being a heal "bot" you always likely to end up on the negative end.

In PvP, its also about being effective at using all your skills. Are you sleeping players? Using your PvP cool downs to annoy the opposition along with keeping your alliance alive?

For me as a healer main, I find it depends on the dungeon/trial and what I do. Trial roulette literally never any comms, as people tend to just leave the duty the moment it ends (guilty of that myself sometimes also).

I typically only give comms to people I feel deserve it, like a tank that pulls really big and gets us through a dungeon really fast. If I'm in 8 man and the other healer shows 0 for DPS on ACT then they absolutely will not get any from me. Healers that don't DPS I refuse to give comms to.

I get a metric butt-ton saving bad parties on my AST in Dun Scaith and healing in Frontlines. For the most part I don't think expert roulette really tests anyone's ability to any sort of extreme, so I wouldn't be surprised that people aren't comming there.

Nope. I've had situations where, considering all the trouble I went through to keep everyone healed up when things turn to s***, I don't get a single one. But on the other hand, I've done runs where it's all just routine, nothing out of the ordinary, and I get comms from everyone. So it all balances out in the end.

Often times with my raising mid-fight/high DPS and explaining the mechanics (then people die over and over) I carry lots of groups...sorry if it sounds arrogant, its not meant to..but yeah I never get any comms. I just do it because I want to finish the duty and help others.

That being said, I always make sure to comm one DPS. We never get any love.

This day i see less people giving com especially if you are doing DF such as levelling or level 50 DF, those people are probably doing their daily quota and their anima quest which can get very boring and tedious so they just "hit and run" through it (dungeon finished, mash leave button in 0.1 second not even a "thankyou")

Level 60 DF, raid, or anything that close to end game dungeon is probably what you should aiming at if you want to get com, also a little friendly like saying hello or small talk can help too

And it could be your end too, try to wait or be the last person to leave, maybe they want to give you com but you already bail =P

If you're having problems getting commendations as a healer you might need to look at your rotation a bit... cleric stance, how often non-tank chars' HP goes below 90%, how often tank chars' HP goes below 30% for more than one GCD, etc. Normally healer is the second easiest role to get comms from behind tanks.

In most of the content finder groups I've been in, healers are relatively bad, ranging from non-use of Regen-type skills, leaving damaging conditions on forever, casting heals in Cleric Stance and casting sleep on mobs inside a persistent fire/doton field. White mages sometimes completely run out of MP for no reason. Special shoutout goes to healers who request tanks use Shield Oath when they had no issues with damage or aggro in Sword Oath.
    • Tanks usually get my commendation if they complete a run without getting lost halfway, pull groups of a sufficient size to reduce their HP to 60% or below, don't delay before pulls for no reason and use defensive cooldowns.
    • Healers usually get my commendation if they AoE when AoE is required, DPS when DPS is required, maintain Regen, clear damaging conditions and maintain tank HP well. In particular, if nobody else deserves a commendation, the healer gets it.
    • DPS are mechanic specific. Ninjas who use Doton, Fuuton and DoT properly get it. Bards who maintain twin DoT get it. Monks who actually move between flank and rear get it. Lancers who interrupt attacks correctly (and don't force bosses into stun resistance for no stupid reason) get it, particularly if single targets die fast in clearly large HP decrements. Black mages who know how to AoE properly and maintain some thunder stack on bosses get it. Summoners who leave uptime of 3 DoTs on more than half the mobs half the time get it.
And if everyone disappears quickly after the dungeon, whoever is left gets it unless they stood inside an obvious AoE and died.

Even so, I usually end up giving commendations to the healer half the time.
